Last week we attended the New York Auto Show and were able to see the new 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible. It made its American debut wearing Night Race Blue with the 3LT Brownstone interior. While We were very impressed by the new convertible model and its distinct “Corvette” profile, it was the interior that had us wagging our tongues. If you were impressed by the previous C7 interiors you’ve seen, the 3LT Brownstone redefines the standard of luxury available on the new Corvette.
The Barrett-Jackson 2013 tour makes its annual spring stop in South Florida this Thursday through Saturday. It was a long time coming, but Doug Penn of British Columbia finally has the 1957 Corvette of his dreams. If his two boys have anything to say about it, it’ll be the car of their dreams, too, for a long time.
Actually, Doug has owned the car since 1976, paying just $2,800 for the 427-powered vehicle back then. It served him well as a single man, and he even took his future wife, Doreen, on their first date in the car. It had been stored for 33 years, though.
A couple weeks back, we showed you the C7-based Callaway Shooting Brake Concept called the Aerowagon and its design really turned a lot of heads. But the designers at the Old Lyme, Connecticut tuning shop weren’t finished yet with us. For April Fools Day, Callaway introduces a matching trailer called the AeroWagonette – a new take on how to transport “bothersome” kids when you only have a two-seat sports car.
Last week while in route to the New York Auto Show, I took with me the new mystery novel Braking Points from Tammy Kaehler. This is her second novel and once again features Kate Reilly, a female Corvette race car driver in the American Le Mans Series. If you root for the Corvette C6.Rs and like a good mystery, then hit the jump and I’ll tell you all about it!
The worldwide appeal of the Chevrolet Corvette was never more evident than during a recent event in Abu Dhabi, thousands of miles away from the assembly plant in Bowling Green, Ky.
An exclusive drag day event for Corvette owners helped kick off the Corvette UAE Club’s Chevrolet Knights chapter on March 15 at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. More than 100 Corvette owners and guests attended the event.
On Wednesday afternoon at the 2013 New York Auto Show, Chevrolet held its press conference to show off its new performance car lineup. As the crowd of journalists crowded into the North Hall of the Javits Center, we figured something special was in progress when Chevy reps started handing out ear plugs.
The presentation got started with a very loud video showing highlights of Chevrolet racing on the bowtie jumbo-tron. With the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe positioned in the middle of the stage under the bowtie, GM’s North American President Mark Reuss addressed the crowd.
If you are like most enthusiasts about this time of year you are experiencing a bad case of “cabin fever”. Shut in by the cold and the snow and too early to wake your hibernating car from its winter sleep and take it for its initial Spring cruise, you can’t help but think of the warm weather and all of the things you will be doing once your Corvette emerges from beneath its flannel lined custom car cover and once again hits the road. One of the things that can help allay the winter doldrums and kick off the Spring is to begin to plan your summer “bucket list” of “can’t miss” events and one of the events that should be at the top of that list is “Back to the Bricks” and the fourth annual Corvette Reunion for 2013.
Two new videos posted by Pratt & Miller show off an innovative new rear-racing radar system that made its debut for Corvette Racing at the recent 12 Hours of Sebring.
With just a glance, the driver can tell how many cars are trailing him and by how much, and whether or not they are a faster class.
