Country music has long celebrated Chevrolets with more mentions of the Bow-tie brand and its models turning up in more songs than one can count. And not only do Country music stars sing about Chevys, but they drive them too. Recognizing the close association between Country music stars and their Chevrolets, the National Corvette Museum has put together a special exhibit called “Country Music Stars and Cars” which features Chevrolet vehicles owned by various country music celebrities.
The 2012 edition of the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals (MCACN) will take place this weekend just outside Chicago. The 2-day celebration of horsepower and chrome sets up shop inside the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont Saturday and Sunday November 17th – 18th. Show hours are 9am-9pm on Saturday and 9am-5pm on Sunday. A $20 bill will get you in the door.
When General Motors unlocked the first video trailer called Conception from the C7 Corvette countdown site, www.one13thirteen.com, one of the memorable clips showed the GM wind tunnel and the tag line “Every Line Matters.” That of course refers to the aerodynamics of the brand new Corvette. The body has been redesigned but the redesign’s purpose was more than just providing a new look – every line, vent, inlet and surface area has been optimize to make the C7 Corvette the most aerodynamic Corvette ever.
Mecum Auctions takes their quest to sell every car ever produced west this weekend for their inaugural Anaheim, California event. Around 70 Corvettes are up for adoption this Thursday through Saturday as part of the 800 car docket. You can watch 18 hours of live coverage of the event on Velocity.
Today is the Great American Teach-In where regular folks visit their local elementary, middle or high schools and talk about what they do for a living. We’ve done this before but our group of 4th graders that we spoke with today at Chiaramonte Elementary in Tampa were very enthusiastic about my discussion on blogging, new media and most importantly, doing what you love to do.

When the 2014 C7 Corvette becomes available next year, it’s widely believed that buyers of the all-new sports car will have their choice of a 7-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic. The new 8-speed automatic transmission will be built at GM’s Toledo, Ohio transmissions plant and is expected to be shared by Corvette, select Cadillacs and other models across the GM lineup. However, in a report yesterday at Motor Trend, sources said the new transmissions won’t be ready for another year, so GM has partnered with the Japanese company Aisin to provide the automatics for C7 Corvette’s first year of production.
A Washington state man is in jail, minus his special edition 2013 Corvette and 8 pounds of marijuana worth $30,000 on the street.
That loot plus tens of thousands of dollars in cash was seized Friday after the execution of a search warrant in Grayland, Washington by Pacific County sheriff’s deputies.
