Doug Kinsman was just following orders when one of the judges at a prestigious car show asked him to see if the windshield washers worked on his 1962 Corvette.
Kinsman’s car was being judged last month at Cobble Beach when judge John Ballard requested the operation of the washers.
Kinsman had never tried them so he said he didn’t know if they would work or not.
He soon found out that they did squirt washer fluid, lots of it, in fact – just not in the right place.
Part of our responsibilities when covering Mid America Motorwork’s 2014 Corvette FunFest is the selection of a Corvette for our celebrity choice award. As we wandered Corvette FunFest’s back parking lot looking for the appropriate Corvette, we realized our work would be cut out for us. So many great Corvettes. So many great stories.
That’s when I spotted Mike McGuirk and his son Mike sitting behind a Honduras Maroon 1962 Corvette.
The 2014 Corvette Stingray has been a popular choice for moviemakers.
In this 6-minute, 22-second flick on YouTube called “Stingray the Movie,” produced by Raj Patel and directed by Joe Clarke, we see two men recruited to do a getaway job for a local kingpin who’s described as “a bit of a whack job…bit of a temper.”
2015 Corvette Z06 reportedly armed with the 8-Speed Automatic Transmission was spotted testing on the Nurburgring.
We were pretty excited to hear that Chevrolet was testing the Corvette Z06 on the Nurburgring but after the seeing the yellow Corvette Z06 with the Z07 Performance Package had crashed, our hopes were dashed for a flying lap.
But now we know that Chevy took a Laguna Blue Corvette Z06 for testing on the Nurburgring as well, and according to unsubstantiated reports, this one is armed with the Stage 2 aerodynamics package along with the new 8-speed automatic.
We’ll keep checking back with Bridge2Gantry for any more updates.

The factory Viper racing program is no more.
Despite winning both the 2014 Driver and Team Championships in this year’s inaugural TUDOR United Sports Car Championship and coming in second place for the Manufacturers Title, Chrysler has decided to end the Viper’s race program.
I might of went a little overboard as I was putting together this week’s award-winning image gallery featuring 1963-67 Corvettes, but I kept finding great pictures of second generation Corvettes to share. So for this week, we’ll have a slightly expanded Midyear Monday photo gallery to start off the week.
If you’re a big Corvette restomod fan and you also love the looks of the classic split window coupes, listen up — eBay has a car that might make you reach for your checkbook. The mint condition restomod coupe with only 2,124 miles on the clock is based on a 2009 Z06 coupe and wears a custom body by Karl Kustom Corvettes resembling the 1963 Corvette Sting Ray split window coupe. The interior has been refinished by Karls for a more classic look of the original SWC.
We’ve all heard and read stories about Corvette owners who, for one reason or another, sold their beloved Vette, but were unable to get the car out of their minds. Years later, when their life circumstances may have changed, they manage to track down and bring their fiberglass friend back into the family.
Scott Bachmann, in the Metropolitan Detroit area, took this story one generation further by finding and repurchasing his late father’s Corvette, and bringing it back home to his family. He was interviewed by WWJ’s Roberta Jasina to find out more about this touching story.
