As the one-year anniversary of the sinkhole that ate eight significant Corvettes in the Skydome of the National Corvette Museum nears, restoration work continues on track.

Zach Massey, restoration project manager for Scott, Murphy & Daniel LLC, gave another update this week on the progress that’s being made on the damage done by the sinkhole on Feb. 12, 2014.

Larbre Competition to Race a Corvette C7.R in the FIA WEC Series

Rumors that Larbre Competition will resume its relationship with Corvette Racing are expected to be confirmed during a press conference Thursday when the FIA and ACO will set the field for the upcoming season.

“You will have confirmation tomorrow from the WEC and Le Mans about the entries,” Larbre team owner Jack Leconte promised, “and you will have good news – a yellow car (Corvette C7.R) is inside.”

Jeff Gordon Wants to Race Corvettes?

Now that Jeff Gordon has announced 2015 will be his final full-time season competing in NASCAR, he’s already thinking about what the future may hold.

Though he’s made millions over his very productive stock car career and could likely spend the rest of his life relaxing at an island resort, Gordon no doubt will want to continue to dabble in racing.

In fact, at last Thursday’s NASCAR Media Day, he told reporters he would like to compete in an occasional endurance seat after he’s retired.

Some say he is terrified of Scouts and he spends his spare time catching fish with his tongue or foraging for wolves in the woods. All we know is Auto Evolution says this woman is the wife of the Stig, the mysterious white-cloaked driver on the British motoring television show Top Gear.

Dale Martin says he recently took these photos of who he claims is Mrs.The Stig at the North Star Dragway in Texas.

January 2015 Corvette Sales

The latest monthly sales report from General Motors was released this morning which contains the delivery statistics of Corvettes in the month of January, 2015.

Last month, Chevrolet sold 2,127 Corvettes which was a decrease of -5.9% from the 2,261 Corvettes sold during January 2014. Since this is the beginning of the calendar year, those stats for Calendar Year to Date sales are the same as well.

Mid Year Corvette Auction Price Pull Back

Right on the heels of the Scottsdale auction where the six auction houses reported a combined 18% increase in sales, Mecum announced record setting sales for their ten-day Kissimmee event, the largest collector car auction in the world. And Mecum’s results were truly impressive; total sales for the 10-day event approached the $70-million mark, currently standing at $68,801,987, selling 1,771 cars of the 2,404 that crossed the auction block, for an exceptionally strong 74% sell-through. So based on the results of the January auctions, long considered to be a barometer of the collector car market for the coming year, collectors are feeling “warm and fuzzy.”

Hagerty, classic car insurance company and price guide publisher, launched a new marketplace rating tool which ranks the classic car market at 70.22, which means it is “expanding but not overheated.” Hagerty chief executive McKeel Hagerty, explained to ClassicCars.com, “We developed this as a tool to allow anyone who is serious about treating collector cars as investments to immediately take the temperature of the classic car market and truly understand the factors that cause the classic car market to move up or down.” But if you are a Corvette collector before you get too excited, based on January results Corvette auction prices are slipping.

1953 Corvette VIN 274 Heading to RM Auction at Amelia Island

It’s always exciting to see a 1953 Corvette up for sale.

The latest of the first 300 Corvettes ever made will be up for sale at RM Auctions in Amelia Island, Fla., on March 14.

Only 26 more 1953 models were made after this one, which is the 274th Corvette ever made. Considering more than 1.5 million Corvettes have been made since then, it’s awe-inspiring to think about the historic importance of this particular car.

But No. 274 has much more going for it than just being a 1953 model.

[ACCIDENT] Corvette Z06 Driver Killed in High Speed Crash in Arkansas

A new 2015 Corvette Z06 was destroyed and its driver was pronounced dead at the scene following a fatal accident in Arkansas over the weekend.

Police say the car was traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control. The Z06 went off the road and hit some trees, ejecting both the driver and the passenger.
