[VIDEO] Hennessey Races a Stock 2020 Corvette vs a 760 HP 2020 Shelby GT500


Last week we brought you a battle hosted by Hennessey Performance in which they pitted a stock 2020 Corvette Stingray vs a 707 HP Dodge Hellcat Charger. In that comparison, the 495-hp Corvette Stingray absolutely destroys the Charger from a dig race, but from the 40-mph roll, the Hellcat’s additional horsepower allows it to catch and pass the Stingray.

Will the results be similar with the Shelby GT500?

We’ve been hearing a lot lately about how the 2020 Corvette could be an instant collector car due to the UAW Strike and Coronavirus shutdowns that have kept current quantities of the new mid-engine sportscar under 2,700 units. We debunked the idea that Chevrolet would be shelving the 2020 model year once the coronavirus lockdown was lifted and Chevrolet’s own PR department flat out stated that once production resumes, more 2020 Corvettes will be made.

Corvette Assembly Plant to Commence Gradual Restart Beginning May 26th

The good news is that the Bowling Green Assembly Plant will soon be making brand new mid-engine Corvettes again. The bad news is that it won’t immediately be at full steam when production resumes in two weeks.

While the Tonawanda engine plant will reopen in New York on May 18, Bowling Green won’t follow suit until May 26, according to GM.

Corvette Racing confirmed this weekend to the ACO that it will be withdrawing from this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans amid ongoing concerns over the Coronavirus pandemic. The decision will likely break a 20-year streak of consecutive appearances by the factory Corvette team at Le Mans.
