On Saturday we shared photos of the first C8 Corvettes to wear an official pace car livery. Two Arctic White Z51 Coupes were used at the IMSA race at Road America to set the pace during the race. Over the course of the weekend, more photos emerged including these official pics from Team Chevy, and with the different views comes what could be several elements of the rumored “Stingray R” special edition.
It’s been a long time coming, but today we received confirmation that the first 2020 Corvette Convertibles have started production. The plant has been building convertibles for the Captured Test Fleet for the last few months so it’s not anything new to the production team, but it is great news for buyers who have been patiently waiting for this day to come.
We have been reminded that Convertible production will see a ramp-up so expect quantities to be small in these first few weeks before gradually expanding into its regular production schedule.

Antonio Garcia and Jordan Taylor won for the second time in their No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C8.R following a late-race pass in torrential rain.

We’ve been featuring various videos from the JMC Rides YouTube channel as John has a great knack of keeping us entertained with his various C8 Corvette adventures. In this latest video, his 2020 Corvette is going up against a Dodge Demon with at least 808 hp, although that horsepower number is suspect based on the car’s mods.
We’ve always described the Corvette as a blank canvas waiting to be customized by their owners, and this guy takes it to the next level. Believe me, if you’re not saying “I’ll be back,” when you watch this video, you’ll at least be thinking about it. That’s because the rear end of this C4 Corvette received a “1 billion percent” upgrade with a photo of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator gracing the back.

The COVID shutdowns have forced a lot of rescheduling for racing across the country including one of our favorites, the Indianapolis 500. I was thinking for sure that would be the venue where we would see our first C8 Corvette in pace car livery, but after the “greatest spectacle in racing” moved their dates to August 23rd, we were unsure when a Corvette Pace Car might be debuted.
