Tom Petty and the, aptly named, Heartbreakers perfectly summed up the early stages of the Corvette owner’s metamorphosis in the first track of their 1981 album, Hard Promises. Spending another summer in pursuit of the first ‘Vette that I could call my own has repeatedly forced your author to anguish in the waiting stage of this hobby.

Corvette Racing driver Antonio Garcia had to overcome diversity late in the Michelin GT Challenge at Virginia International Raceway to take his second win in a row with teammate Jordan Taylor.

In fact, Garcia thought at first the sudden severe vibrations caused by the failure of a diffuser on the C8.R car was going to end his day prematurely.

This year certainly has been a rollercoaster for Corvette enthusiasts waiting for their 2020 Corvettes to be built. I do get your emails requesting any updates on production news from the Corvette Assembly Plant. While some days the pickings are slim to none, we do have some good news to share from the C8 Facebook groups and other sources this week.

Since last week’s recall notice regarding the 2020 Corvette’s frunk issue, which then led to Chevrolet issuing a Stop Delivery Order, we’ve been waiting anxiously for the news of when the over-the-air updates would begin.

GM told us that engineers were working around the clock on this issue and today they notified dealers that an update will be available tonight. General Motors will then rollout the customer updates shortly afterward.

After several YouTube videos caught the Corvette’s frunk suddenly opening, the Corvette Team has determined that it’s caused by customers inadvertently opening the frunk via the key fob or interior release buttons and then missing the audio and visual warnings when they put the car in drive. We’ve noted in the videos that the cars are going at least 40 mph when the wind catches the frunk lid, lifting it all the way back and causing damage to the hinges and paint.

One of the best things to happen with the National Corvette Museum over the last few years without a doubt is the hiring of Derek Moore as the Curator for the collection. Derek has brought a level of focus to the Museum’s growing Corvette collection as well as the rotating exhibits that have ranged from the current Rat Fink display to last summer’s anniversary of Man walking on the Moon and tying that together with the famous astronaut-driven Corvettes from the late 1960s and early 1970s.

This week, Derek joins Steve Garrett on the CORVETTE TODAY PODCAST as they discuss the current and future plans in place at the National Corvette Museum.
