Sebring International Raceway is one of the oldest continuously operating racetracks in the U.S., holding the country’s first endurance race way back in 1950. The initial 6-hour race format was expanded to 12 hours in 1952 and now, some 63 years later, it remains as one of the world’s top sports car endurance races. The latest Twelve Hours of Sebring begins at 10:40 a.m. on March 21, 2015 when 47 cars will take the green flag for 12 hours of non-stop, door-to-door racing.
Last week we showed this cool video from Chevrolet Europe featuring Corvette Racing driver Oliver Gavin arriving at the Geneva Motor Show in the new 2015 Corvette Z06. The No.4 C7.R driver checked the car with the valet and headed into the show wearing his full racing gear.
Now we have the bookend to that entrance with Oliver walking off the show floor and out the door, handing his ticket to the valet and getting into the Velocity Yellow Corvette Z06. As he drives off, text on the screen reads “One step closer to Le Mans.”
This may be Jeff Gordon’s last season as a full-time racer, but the effects of his legendary NASCAR career will live on for years to come, thanks to the programs offered by the Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation.
One of the facets of Gordon’s foundation that should hit home for all Corvette enthusiasts is the Corvette raffle program.

Corvette Forum user “sdtoothdoc” was pretty excited to finally be receiving his new eight-speed automatic Corvette Z06 last week, but that excitement has been tempered after he noticed a series cracks on his high performance Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup 2 tires.
In the C7 Z06 forum, the new Z06 owner posts:
“Hey guys…my A8 Z finally got here in San Diego and took her home a few miles away. As suspected, all 4 tires have cracks like Dennis’s from Las Vegas. When at the dealer, they said that 4 other Stingrays all have the same cracks in the tires. “
It’s been a busy year so far for the winners of the opening event in the 2015 Optima Batteries’ Ultimate Street Car Series.
Rob Krider and Keith Kramer, successful endurance racing drivers since 2008, drove Krider’s 2006 Corvette Z06 to the top spot in the Feb. 28/March 1 competition at Thunderhill Raceway in Willows, Calif.
For the 63rd time, gearheads assembled in Detroit for the annual automotive spectacle known as Autorama. Like the groundhog that doesn’t see its shadow, Autorama signals that spring time and the car show and cruising seasons are right around the corner. Thousands of cars – customized, restored, and factory originals alike – invade Cobo Hall each year in hopes of taking home one of the many awards.
This morning at 8:00 am, the guys from Ridetech have started working on tearing down their stock 1972 Corvette which is the basis for their second 48 Hour Car build. We’ve embeded the video here but you can also tune in at here where there is also a live chat running.
This should be a fun three days so check back and watch this Corvette get transformed into an ultimate street machine.
It must be Monday because I am looking at a whole lot of 2nd generation Corvette Sting Ray pictures for today’s Midyear Monday gallery. Check out this random image gallery featuring 28 Corvettes built from 1963 to 1967.
