[VIDEO] This 1980 Corvette for Sale Has the Rare V54 Factory Roof Panel Carrier Option

With 40,614 coupes manufactured in St. Louis, the 1980 Corvette isn’t necessarily what you think of as an ultra-rare car.

But today we bring you a video of a somewhat special ’80 Corvette up for sale at a Connecticut dealership with an option you may have read about, but have probably never seen in person. I know I haven’t, and fellow CorvetteBlogger Senior Editor Keith Cornett says he hasn’t either.

For Pete’s sake, man! Don’t you know what those inferior brushes can do to a Corvette’s finish?

[VIDEO] Let's Go Window Shopping for a 2021 Corvette at Kerbeck Corvette

Our friend Jeff at Zipity’s Garage has a fun new video showing a walk-through of the C8 Corvettes awaiting delivery at Kerbeck Corvette in Atlantic City. All these Corvettes are sold orders and awaiting delivery, but due to Kerbeck’s ranking as the world’s largest Corvette dealership, there are new shipments arriving from Bowling Green all the time so there’s a lot to see. We thought we’d walk the lot with Zipity and do some window shopping of the 2021 Corvette.

[PICS] Sharp C7 Corvette Renderings From An Unlikely Source

We’re only two years into the eight-generation Corvette, with lots more exciting models believed to be in the pipeline.

That doesn’t mean everyone has given up on the previous generation. Witness this updated rendering of the C7 Corvette as imagined by Sean Peterson, who ironically enough is an exterior automotive design for Ford Motor Company.

When it comes to the myriad Corvette big blocks available in 1969, it’s easy to get lost in the alphabet soup of option codes. For Corvette’s 2nd year of C3 production, no less than six 427 cubic inch engines were available. The 390hp L36 was the most prolific with roughly half of production getting one installed between the front fenders. At the other end, we had the legendary 430hp (wink, wink) L88 with just 116 produced. In between, there was the 400hp L68 and the highly sought after 435hp L71. One step up from the L71 was the L89 which added aluminum heads. The outlier here, with just two documented cars built, is the wild, all-aluminum ZL1.

As a new C8 Corvette owner, GM provides you with a free oil change as well as a free filter change for your dual-clutch transmission during your first 12 months of ownership. And while the Owner’s Manual service page says the DCT filter should be performed at 7500 miles, it’s still something that you will want to swap out during that free oil change even if you don’t have that many miles on the car.

They are only original once…

That saying is probably one of the most overused and underappreciated statements you can make about a classic Corvette. Of course, they are only original once, but in a hobby where restored Corvettes are the norm while “over-restored” restomods steal the limelight where ever they go, it’s the unrestored Corvette that grabs our attention as well as those of serious collectors.

Here's a Special Offer on AEROLARRI's Z06Z Forged Wheels for the C8 Corvette Stingray

It was back in October 2020 that a reader who wished to remain anonymous sent us a photo of a lightly camouflaged C8 Corvette Z06 that was testing at Michigan’s Grattan Raceway. That photo showed the car to be wearing a unique spoiler, front aerodynamic canards, and black wheels.

So far that photo remains to be the only pic of the upcoming Z06 with its wheels exposed, allowing us to see the unique spoke design for the upcoming performance version of the mid-engine Corvette.
