The National Corvette Museum has received its largest donation ever – a collection of 10 Corvettes in the Don Messner Collection.
Messner, who passed away in May from melanoma, wanted to inspire others to make similar donations in the future.
In 1970, Cliff Gottlob and Jack Blatchford drove a 1967 Corvette to Daytona Beach, Fla., where Gottlob and David Dooley teamed up to drive the L88-powered ‘Vette to second place in a 24-hour endurance test.
Now, 43 years later, Blatchford drove the same car onto the lawn of the 18th fairway at the prestigious Concours d’Elegance at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
Someone once said there are two kinds of Corvette owners – drivers and polishers. We all know that keeping your Corvette looking as good as the day it rolled off the showroom floor is an unstated rule of Corvette ownership and that’s what leads us to our question of the day. How do you wash your Corvette?
Once again our friends at ProTeam Corvette Sales will be hosting a NCRS Technical Seminar. This year’s event is coming up on November 9th and the main topic is “How Chevrolet’s Relentless Pursuit of HP Benefited Corvette”. The all-day session is co-sponsored by the Michigan and Heart of Ohio chapters of the National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS). NCRS membership isn’t required to attend and the cost is just $20 at the door. That admission fee also includes breakfast and lunch.
It’s time for Throwback Thursday where we feature vintage photos of Corvettes. Today’s selection has two Corvette concept racecars at the track in this group photo at the track.
Forgiato Wheels has recently shown off a rendering of a widebody C7 Corvette Stingray that the company is building for the SEMA show next month in Las Vegas. The Corvette is being modified by Topo aka the self-proclaimed widebody king. The render shows what the finished Corvette will look like when finished but we also found some pics showing the transformation in progress.
Here’s some good news for classic Corvette owners. Our friends at Corvette America have released a new catalog covering thousands of parts and accessories for 1953 through 1967 Corvettes.
Thanks to some Corvette transfusions and the support of former General Motors’ vice chairman Bob Lutz, the beleaguered Fisker Karma will apparently live on.
Fisker sold about 1,800 Karmas before having to shut down in November 2012 when the company ran out of money and couldn’t make loan payments to the Department of Energy.
VL Automotive, backed by Lutz, plans to use two different Corvette engines to convert 25 unsold Karmas from hybrid power.
