With Mecum’s Kissimmee 2024 auction now in the books, one specific Corvette model we wanted to analyze was the C8 Corvette Z06. The “race car for the streets” have been setting monster sales numbers over the course of the year and the results from the January 2024 sale may provide buyers with some insights on pricing as we move into the new year.

Today kicked off the three-day practice session known as The Roar Before the 24 and the new Corvette Z06 GT3.Rs are there. Our friends at Michelin Racing put captured the four new Corvettes during a photoshoot at Daytona International Raceway. The Rolex 24 at Daytona will get underway one week from Saturday. The Green Flag drops at 1:40 PM ET and you can watch the beginning of the race at NBC.

The 2024 January auctions are off to a flying start. Mecum Kissimmee just wrapped up nearly 2 weeks in Florida with in the neighborhood of 4,500 cars crossing the auction block. As of this writing, the overall top sale was a stunning 1963 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder that commanded $17.87M. That’s a new record for the most expensive car ever sold by Mecum. In addition, another 15 lots also topped the $1M mark.

Today is Allocation Day for Chevy dealers who received their number of 2024 Corvettes that they can order for customers when the January order cycle opens up next Thursday. The quantities are broken down into each of the three models and then dealers can start trying to figure out what they can order. GM’s order process is somewhat chaotic in our opinion as dealers still have to wait until next Thursday to find out which options may be constrained, so we’ll have that info next week.
