Chevrolet: Nearly Half of All 2022 Corvette IMSA GTLM Championship Editions are Already Sold

If you are hoping to order a new 2022 Corvette IMSA GTLM Championship Edition, you better get down to your dealer right away as we have learned that nearly half of the 1,000 planned C8.R Special Editions have already been sold. That news comes from Corvette Product Manager Harlan Charles from his What’s New with Corvette seminar at the National Corvette Museum’s 27th Anniversary Celebration.
Thanks to this week’s Consensus update, we have some additional details about how these C8 special editions are being ordered.

Popular Z51 Performance Model Now Used as Basis for the EPA’s 2022 Corvette Fuel Economy Ratings
If you were to compare the new 2022 Corvette’s official EPA fuel economy ratings to those issued back in 2020, you would see an increase of 1 MPG in the city, but a drop of 3 MPG on the highway. That drop in the highway rating wasn’t because there were any significant changes to the LT2 powertrain, it’s because a majority of buyers are selecting the Z51 Performance Package.
