[VIDEO] Detailing a 1969 Corvette at the Cavalcade of Customs

This is a pretty cool video that’s a bit different than most of the detailing videos I usually see which consists of barn finds and first washes. This custom 1969 Corvette Coupe was on display at the Cavalcade of Customs in Cincinnati, Ohio earlier this month and it’s the main character in this story.

Alrighty, Corvette Nation. I did my due dilligence today and got the ordering constraints for this month’s Corvette order cycle. Again, these constraints only affect those orders going into the system today. For the most part, it’s good news, so let’s get at it!

We’re still digesting some of the fantastic Corvettes we saw at Mecum’s Kissimmee auction earlier this month and one of those collector cars that really made an impression was a Black/Red 1963 Corvette Z06 Split Window with the 36.5 gallon N03 gas tank. Chevrolet only built 199 Z06s for the year and this is also number 51 of 63 produced with the tanker option. That catalog description goes on to say that this is the only Tuxedo Black with Red Interior Corvette Z06 with the N03 option.

The Corvette Assembly Plant appears to be ramping up in more ways than just the new E-Rays being built. This week, workers at the Bowling Green facility are doing 10-hour shifts, and we’ve confirmed that there will be one shift run on this Saturday as well.

A museum without artifacts is like a car without an engine.

That analogy sums up the important role that the Director of Collections and Exhibitions plays at the National Corvette Museum.

Joining the Museum in that position is Robert Maxhimer, who comes to Bowling Green from the San Diego History Center and the Walt Disney Company.

As we lead up to the running of the 2024 Rolex 24 at Daytona on Saturday, Pratt Miller Motorsports has been sharing a bunch of content on their social media sites for the fans. One of these videos showcases the process of building the new Z06 GT3.R race cars from the ground up.

It all starts in Bowling Green, Kentucky at the Corvette Assembly Plant. A stock frame, chassis components, much of the Z06’s 5.5L V8, and even the interior dash are the starting points for the car and then it all comes together at Pratt Miller’s facility where all the race and safety content are added. It takes about 16 weeks from start to finish to complete the new racecars.

As if we didn’t already have enough reasons to hate illegal street takeovers, just watch as these upstanding members of society in Los Angeles purposely throw gas on a convertible C7 Corvette and cheering as it burns to the ground.
