FIA GT3: Paul Ricard Race 1 Report

Christian Hohenadel took the chequered flag to record his and, teammate Daniel Keilwitz’s, second win of the 2010 season in a lights to flag victory during Round 7 of the FIA GT3 European Championship at Paul Ricard. Under the French summer sun the German crossed the line in the Callaway Competition Corvette Z06R GT3 6.6 seconds ahead of championship rival Mike Parisy in the nr16 Graff Racing Corvette.

As Barn Finds goes, this one is a bit more interesting than most. Here is a vintage 1958 Corvette that was raced hard and put away wet as my dad would say. Owned and raced by James Huskey in the Houston, Texas area, this Corvette was terrorizing tracks throughout the 60s-70s before being put into storage where is sat for over 30 years. Unholy Engine Swap: 1954 Corvette Roadster ZR1

The 1954 Corvette was never known for its performance. After all, it was originally equipped with a 155-hp straight six blue flame engine and a 2-speed powerglide transmission. But that didn’t stop Timeless Kustoms of Camarillo, California for rewriting history as they resurrected a 1954 parts car into this LS9 powered custom show stopping roadster.

The local fox affiliate’s morning show was live as Mr. T and the crew of WillItMakeIt.com were on hand to perform some of their stunts, which included a hot pursuit reenactment with Roscoe P. Coltrane’s ,1970’s Plymouth Fury Police Car trying desperately to keep up to Bob Bondurant’s 2010 Corvette ZR1.

June 2010 Corvette Sales

GM released the sales figures for June today and the report shows Corvette sales holding steady with 1,405 deliveries. This is a decrease of just 23 Corvettes over May 2010′s 1,428 Corvettes. However, if you recall our analysis of May’s numbers, you’ll remember that deliveries were the highest since September 2009. So the fact that Corvette sales were nearly identical to May is good news. Want even more good news? Calendar year sales shows an increase of 0.6% over June’s 2009 1,396 deliveries.

Happy Birthday Corvette: Iconic American Sports Car Turns 57

It was fifty-seven years ago today that the first Corvettes rolled off a temporary assembly line in Flint, Michigan and into the hearts and dreams of Americans.
