Book Review: The Corvette in the Barn

Book Review: The Corvette in the Barn

I have a special affinity for barn cars. My own 1966 Corvette spent over 11 years locked away in a barn and I still remember the day of pushing it out into the sunlight and loading it on a trailer. On the outside was a thick layer of dust that covered everything. Inside, mice and other rodents had taken up residence in the engine compartment. For an automotive enthusiast, barn cars are the equivalent of archaeology – uncovering someone’s lost or forgotten treasure and making it great again. If you appreciate barn cars and the stories of how they were uncovered, you’ll love the new book by Tom Cotter called “The Corvette in the Barn.”

Rare 1957 Airbox Corvette Sold at RM's Milton Robson Sale

RM Auctions descended on Gainesville, Georgia last week to sell one of the largest muscle car collections in the country. Milton Robson’s style was to collect the highest performance vehicle in the model year and series. In his 55-car collection, two Corvettes met his criteria: a 1967 427/435 hp Corvette and the very rare 1957 Corvette with Ramjet airbox fuel injection. There were just 43 factory airbox Corvettes built in 1957 and less than half that amount are believed to be still in existence.

[POLL] Should the C7 Corvettes Design Go Retro?

Here is a freelancer’s take on Corvette for the upcoming C7 release that’s been floating around the interwebs for quite some time now and one that keeps growing on me. The visual design cues are both modern and C3 retro without sacrificing function like the rear wheel brake cooling ducts. While the original color of this design was done in silver, someone did this great photoshop proving once again that all Corvettes should be red.

Corvette Auction Results: Bob McDorman's Corvette Sales Total $5 Million

Article Contributed by Steve Burns

It was right around 2pm on Saturday, November 6th when the first Corvette rolled up onto the auction block. Within 3 or 4 minutes the Polo White 1953 roadster had a new owner. This process repeated ‘Vette after ‘Vette for roughly the next 3 hours. The auction block, covered in the traditional Mecum Auctions red color scheme, was packed full of eager bidders throughout the Corvette portion of the docket. The earlier cars could barely been seen due to the mass of people, often times 5-6 deep, surrounding them. The crowd lessened as the auction moved on, but the block was always full of people.

[VIDEO] Chevy's Proof | Corvette Racing Victory | 2010 Petit Le Mans

Here is a great new :30 second commercial saluting Corvette Racing’s GT victory at last month’s Petit Le Mans. Tim Allen provides the narration and the new ‘Chevy Runs Deep’ slogan makes an appearance at the end.

GM and Corvette Racing presented the theme of cascade engineering for the 2010 racing season, and appropriately so, this factory race car commercial is the perfect bookend to the Still Buiding Rockets commercial featuring the Corvette ZR1.
