Corvette Values: 1998 Corvette Coupe

Corvette Values: 1998 Corvette Coupe

Most of our Corvette Values submissions deal with classic Corvettes so its refreshing when we get to take a closer look at something a bit more modern. MW of Nebraska submitted this 1998 Silver Corvette Coupe to Corvette Values because his bank required a Corvette Appraisal to cover the value of the loan:

1998 Corvette Coupe. VIN 1g1yy22g3w5120XXX. Silver with Black leather interior. 6-Speed manual transmission. 64,400 miles. All original with no mods other than a Corsa exhaust. Mechanicals and body listed as in Good condition. Original owner history is available but no sales documentation exists.

Find out how we valued this Corvette after the jump.

Welcome to the New CorvetteBlogger.com!

by Keith Cornett on April 8, 2010

We’ve just completed a frame-off restoration of CorvetteBlogger.com and are pleased to have officially launched the new website. We’ve been planning this for months and with over 1,500 blog posts and nearly 5,000 images, it wasn’t the easiest move to make. The new website features many improvements and updates and so here is a quick tour of what’s new!

  • Improved header has navigation links to our top categories.
  • Search box to help you find that post or topic you were looking for.
  • Slightly larger and easier to read font.
  • Simplified the content on the right sidebar.
  • A toolbar on each post contains links for printing, comments or connecting with social media websites.
  • Our footer contains links to our friends, a contact form, tag cloud and our recent tweets from Twitter.

Most importantly, we made it easier to connect with you, our readers. It’s now much easier to leave comments and no registration is required.

As with every frame-off restoration, we are occasionally stumbling upon something that needs a bit more work. If you find something that doesn’t look quite right or if a page is broken, please let us know so we can get that fixed.

Lastly, I’d like to give a shout out to Daniel at 1Serpent who undertook this resto-mod project and turned it into a real show stopper. He went the extra mile for us and his work is much appreciated.

Corvette Racing: C6.R's Subjected to IMSA Performance Adjustments

The American Le Mans Series has announced their performance adjustments for the GT class ahead of next weekend’s race at Long Beach. The Corvette C6.Rs started the season with IMSA mandating a minimum weight of 1270 kg. That requirement added 25 kg to the Corvettes which equals roughly 60 pounds. IMSA has stated that the Pratt and Miller Corvettes will run with the extra weight until completion of Round 3 at Laguna Seca in May.

Custom Corvettes: Update on The Dragon Vette

by Keith Cornett on April 8, 2010

Update on The Dragon Vette

We got an update on the Dragon Vette that confirms what we wrote about in our original post – the world’s worst custom Corvette is now rocking a supercharger that should boost his horsepower from the standard 436 hp to around 600 hp. According to a member over at LS1Tech.com, the Dragon Vette was spotted at a local dealership getting the centrifugal supercharger installed and most surprising is that under the hood, all appears to be stock and unmolested.

[VIDEO] Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach 2010: 1966 Corvette 427/425hp NOM

Here is an interesting 1966 Corvette Convertible that appeared Saturday at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Palm Beach. The Triple Black Corvette features a 427/425 hp L72 and is fresh off a restoration, but it comes with a caveat: Originally a 427/425 car, it doesn’t have the original engine. Will the price be affected or will its curb appeal rope in buyers who may be more interested in driving the Sting Ray instead of a storing a garage queen. Watch the video after the jump.

Songs About Corvettes: Awesome Z06 by Pete

by Keith Cornett on April 7, 2010

For 57 years, Corvette’s owners have shown their support for American’s sports car by paying homage to it in various forms. From tattoos, custom furniture and dedicated Corvette Blogs, inspired owners want to show the love they have for their Corvettes. For Pete, his 505 horsepower Corvette Z06 was the inspiration for a song that was recently posted on YouTube. Remember that Chevy billboard that says “They don’t write songs about Volvos”? I guess its because Volvo doesn’t have owners like Pete who wants to sing to the world about his “freakin fast” Z06.
