The Corvette Racing team took the C6.Rs to downtown Le Mans where the two factory racers underwent the pre-race technical inspection better known as scrutineering. Following the inspection, they lined up for the official team photo before heading back to the track for more photography with Richard Prince. That 2012 Carlisle Blue Corvette Grand Sport Coupe that was spotted on a car hauler a couple of weeks ago seems to have turned up at the Corvette Club of America’s 37th Annual Spring Car Show. The show was held Saturday at Sport Chevrolet in Silver Spring, Maryland. In addition to the celebrity cars on hand was another celebrity, Corvette Product Manager Harlan Charles who took a moment to pose with the new Grand Sport.

LE MANS, France, June 6, 2011 – Race fans will have an all-access view of this weekend’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, with exclusive features that include “riding along” with Corvette Racing for the entire race. SPEED will televise 17 hours of live coverage on June 11-12, and via a partnership with Corvette Racing, fans can go to www.speedtv.com/corvette to view the hours not televised. Online coverage will include a special live video stream providing a constant look from inside one of the two Corvette C6.Rs that will be seeking a seventh class win at Le Mans.
Here is a video that will make you feel good about owning a Corvette. This modified supercharged Z06 with 700 horsepower lines up against Sweden’s Koenigsegg CCXR with just over 1,000 horsepower for a 1-mile drag race. Both cars seemingy get off to a slow start thanks to a bunch a wheel spin, but the Z06 finds traction first, jumps out in the lead and never looks back.
The Corvette Racing trucks arrived in France where it delivered its cargo containing race cars and supporting parts and tools in advance of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Most of the crew and the engineers will be on site as we write this with the drivers arriving from various locations over the weekend. The busy week kicks off officially on Monday where the two C6.Rs wearing numbers #73 and #74 will undergo Scrutineering in the afternoon before posing for the traditional team picture on the pit straight.

Unlike other Baldwin/Motion cars which were assembled prior to purchase, this 1968 Corvette was modified about 4 years after it was driven off the lot by the original owner. All the requisite Motion Performance parts were ordered through the mail and a local body shop performed the transformation. The car is currently listed on eBay waiting for you to purchase it. KMBC in Kansas City had this report about a Corvette that crashed into a house. The Corvette’s driver apparently was running from a routine police stop. After turning onto a small back road off Highway 150, the driver lost control and hit a tree which launched the Corvette airborne. Police found the wrecked Corvette on the front porch of a home.
