The Corvette Museum’s Motorsport Park project got a shot in the arm on Friday night following the sale of the 2011 Le Mans Anniversary Corvette Z06 at the 2011 Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale. The sale of the White/Blue one-off VIN #001 Corvette Z06 for $210,000 to NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick was probably a little lower than what the NCM was looking for, but every little bit helps!
The uncertainty surrounding the driver lineup at Corvette Racing has now been resolved after it was announced last month that long time driver Johnny O’Connell would drive the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe in SCCA. GM Racing announced this afternoon that Tommy Milner and Richard Westbrook will be driving the C6.Rs in the 2011 American Le Mans and the 24 Hours of Le Mans campaigns. Milner will join Olivier Beretta as a full time driver of the #3 Corvette while Westbrook will join Oliver Gavin and Jan Magnussen in the #4 Corvette for the three endurance races.
The Corvettes at Carlise show is one of the premier annual Corvette shows for owners and enthusiasts alike. The founder of the Carlisle shows, Chip Miller, was one of the giants in our hobby and everyone was pretty shocked when he lost his life nearly 7 years ago to a rare disease known as Amyloidosis. Today, the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation helps raise awareness and funds to find a cure for the disease. The great folks at Barrett-Jackson stepped up on Wednesday evening and this 1973 Red Corvette was auctioned with the proceeds to go to finding a cure for Amyloidosis.

This video was taken at the 10th Anniversary Envy Frenzy Car Show in Kingston, NY. Let this serve as a lesson for you. You can’t put out a fuel fire with water. A good chemical-based fire extinguisher might have been able to save this car. That and turning off the ignition. Otherwise, the gas just keeps pouring out and the fire rages on.

C6 C5 Corvette sent to Davey Jones Locker in the Choke Canyon Reservoir in McMullen County Texas was recently recovered by the Texas Rangers. Earlier this month a dive team from the Texas Rangers found the submerged Corvette while searching for a missing 57-year-old woman who was reported missing along with her car. Fortunately, the woman and her car were found safe in Larado, so the dive team went ahead and pulled the Corvette to dry land.
