[VIDEO] Epic Compilation of Crashes by Vintage Racers

by Keith Cornett on March 10, 2011

This video is mostly off-topic when it comes to Corvettes (although a Corvette is seen at the beginning). Watching these guys race and you have to wonder if they weren’t all just a little crazy. Other than wearing helmets, safety equipment was pretty much non-existent. No roll bars, no seat belts, no fire-suppression systems. Check it out but be warned, some of these crashes couldn’t have ended well.

Just a quick note to let you know CorvetteBlogger.com hit another milestone today. This morning, we published our 2,000th blog post! That’s 2,000 pages of Corvette content relating to sales, news, lifestyles and racing! Never in my wildest dream did I think the site would be as popular as it is when we dropped our first post back in August of 2005. I’d like to thank all our readers and contributors who helped make this happen.

I’d also like to thank all of our website sponsors, the men and women of General Motors who make the Corvette, the folks at the NCM for protecting the car’s heritage, the guys at Corvette Racing for kicking ass and all the contacts we have with other Corvette related websites, Chevy dealers and the auction houses.

I’ve been around Corvettes my entire life. Time and again I am reminded that it’s the greatest car America has ever built. And its been my pleasure to share my enthusiasm of America’s original sports car with you though this website.

Now on to blog post #2002…

[VIDEO] Southern Car Parts Becomes an Akrapovic Exhaust Dealer

According to the 2009 SEMA Corvette owners study, we learned one of the first aftermarket changes made to Corvettes usually involves the exhaust system. Recently, we’ve been hearing about a new player in the high end market named Akrapovic and thought a closer look (and listen!) was in order.

[VIDEO] C4 Corvette Dragster from Down Under

[VIDEO] C4 Corvette Dragster from Down Under

Want to see what a 7 second quarter mile pull feels like? This C4 Corvette dragster hails from the Northern Territory of Australia and was recently seen at a drag strip in Perth. I particularly liked the flaming skull in front of the massive Chevy 510. It’s more Ghost Rider than Jake, but when you’re on one of the fastest C4 Corvettes ever built, it’s only the graphics on the rear that will be seen. Make sure you check out the video, especially around the 3:20 mark.

Auction Results: High Price Paid for '58 Corvette Barn Car

There is a song by Pearl Jam called “Soon Forget” that opens with these lines: “Sorry is the fool who trades his soul for a corvette. Thinks he’ll get the girl he’ll only get the mechanic.” I was immediately reminded of those lyrics when I came across this 1958 Corvette barn car that was sold at a Canadian auction over the weekend.
