Corvette Racing at Road America: Sixth, Seventh in GTLM for Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (Aug. 10, 2014) – Corvette Racing’s two Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs placed sixth and seventh in a hectic GT Le Mans (GTLM) race at the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America. Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen led the team’s charge in the No. 3 Corvette C7.R with Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner in the No. 4 Corvette following at the finish.

SHARK WEEK! Check out our favorite Shark, the famous Mako Shark II Corvette Concept designed by Bill Mitchell.

The Mako Shark was GM VP of Design, Bill Mitchell’s vision for the follow up to the Corvette Stingray. Legend has it he was inspired by sharks he’d caught in the Bahamas. The design cues for this car can be seen in Corvettes that rolled out starting in 1968 model year.

Corvette Racing at Road America: An Uphill Battle for Corvette C7.Rs

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (Aug. 9, 2014) – Back at the site of its first test nearly a year ago, Corvette Racing’s two Corvette C7.Rs qualified sixth and eighth in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class Saturday for the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America. Oliver Gavin was the quickest Corvette driver with a lap of 2:04.650 (116.910 mph) in the No. 4 C7.R that he drives with Tommy Milner.

After our visit to CORSA Performance last month we headed over to Smokey’s Dyno and Performance in nearby Akron, Ohio to check out their first class custom shop. Smokey’s is a full service tuning shop offering everything from ECM tunes to custom wheel and tire installation. They specialize in all makes and models but, of course, we were there to talk Corvettes.

A Rare 1966 Vintage Corvette Racer up for Sale at Mecum Monterey

Another rare Corvette with a long history of racing success goes on the block at Mecum Auctions in Monterey, California Aug. 14-16.

This one is a 1966 convertible purchased new in Salt Lake City, Utah by Lynn Butler, whose intentions all along were to race his Corvette.

This C5 Corvette racer with a solid axle from Moser Engineering nearly stands on its rear bumper when the light turns green. The driver powers through 60′ or so of track on just two wheels. Amazingly, the car stays under control as it drops back to four wheels and heads down the track.

The newest addition to the C5 Corvette lineup over at Bayou Boyz racing is being tested. This will be the 3rd C5 to join the team proving how competitive this package has become.

Larry Trades a New 2004 Corvette for a 66 427/390 Convertible
