Although most of the new updates to the 2012 Corvette were released last week somewhat prematurely and covered here on CorvetteBlogger.com, Chevy made it official today with an official press release detailing the new equipment and options that will be available with next year’s Corvette.
I’m sorry that content has been a bit light this week, but that’s all about to change as we will be making our way to Bowling Green for the annual C5/C6 Bash at the National Corvette Museum this weekend. CorvetteBlogger will be on-site as the folks from General Motors introduce the new 2012 Corvette. Make sure you are following us on Twitter and Facebook as we’ll be updating those with pics and accounts from the weekend.

In episode 4 of Corvette Racing’s Track to Street series, we follow the team to Long Beach, where the smallest mistake could take a team out of contention completely. The two-hour race is considered a sprint in comparison to the twelve-hour Sebring relay or the holy grail of all races, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which is next up on the schedule. Check out the ongoing battle that ensues on the all-concrete street course and see where the team ends up when all is said and done.
Tommy Milner Sets the Pace in Preparation for Legendary Endurance Race
LE MANS, France – Corvette Racing completed a successful test day at Le Mans on Easter Sunday. As we stare out the window of CorvetteBlogger’s Motor City bureau into the cold, cloudy, gray, and wet outdoors we can’t help but wonder if the sun will ever shine again. After an extremely harsh winter, our thoughts naturally turn to visions of warm summer cruising in our Corvettes once we’ve rescued them from their wintertime naps. But when’s the appropriate time to wake them up?
Next weekend’s C5/C6 Bash at the National Corvette Museum is the annual confab where GM and the Corvette Team introduce the changes on the new model-year Corvette. However, that presentation appears to have been somewhat preempted by the release of information from a Chevy dealer on the Corvette Forum which details the changes and upgrades coming on the 2012 Corvette.
Where 2011 was about personalization, you can say that 2012 is all about maximizing performance, especially at the higher end of the model lineup. ZR1 gets a new performance package while Z06 gets some more of ZR1′s tech. New wheels, R-Compound Michelin cup tires and a new 9-speaker stereo are just some of the option boxes that buyers will be checking off starting this summer.
There’s a lot to go through so we’re going to list the options and then we’ll come back around to analyze and discuss with you. As the t-shirt says, “Sit down, shut up and hang on” as we take you through the list of upgrades and changes for the 2012 Corvette.
Le Mans Test Day Sets the Stage for Sports Car Racing’s Main Event
LE MANS, France, April 20, 2011 – This is only a test – but it’s an important one. Corvette Racing will participate in the Le Mans Test Day on Easter Sunday, April 24. This one-day outing on the legendary French circuit will play a key role in the team’s preparations for the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 11-12, 2011.
It’s new versus old in this video of an Atomic Orange C6 Corvette Z06 racing a 1973 Corvette Coupe down the strip. Obviously modified, the C3 Corvette gets the slightest of jumps on the Z06 at the start but that 505-horsepower LS7 kicks in and it’s neck and neck down the straightaway. Who wins is anyone’s guess. You’ll have to watch after the jump.
The retirement of Jetstream Blue Metallic in 2011 leaves the door open for GM to offer a new color for the 2012 Corvette and today we are pleased to bring you its replacement: Carlisle Blue Metallic. The new color is an existing Chevy color called “Ice Blue Metallic” and can be seen on the 2011 Cruze. We think the color reminds us of the 1982 color called Silver Blue Metallic or the Light Blue Metallic offered in 1984-85.
