For decades, to cut costs and increase profits, General Motors has made a practice of sharing parts among its vehicles. Remember the 1976 Corvette embarrassingly borrowing the steering wheel from the lowly Vega?

[VIDEO] The Stradman's 2023 Corvette Z06 is Repaired and Back in the Garage!

We know you’ve been following the saga of The Stradman’s 2023 Corvette Z06 with the leaky transmission. Two videos ago, The Stradman showed a huge puddle of transmission fluid under the car, and after carefully deliberating how to get the car to the dealership, some helpful gents from the local Chevy dealership came to him and picked up the car.

It’s not easy – nor inexpensive – to maintain the incredible collection of more than 150 cars at the National Corvette Museum.

Enthusiasts around the world can do their part to help fund the long-term preservation and maintenance of the museum’s collection by making a donation to the Corvette Collection Preservation Fund, which kicked off its year-end giving campaign today with a new YouTube video.

One of our resident spy photographers appears to have captured a 2024 Corvette E-Ray Convertible on the street. Two weeks ago, we would have argued that this is most likely an “export Z06 convertible”, but the monochromatic color treatment, corner-mounted exhausts, and the lack of the flat-plane crank engine wail leads us to believe this Corvette is indeed a near-production-spec E-Ray prototype.

Update: After the publication of what I thought was a very well-written and thorough article on how this car was an E-Ray, my hopes were dashed as I was reminded of the tailpipes.

The tailpipes! Of course!

After smacking myself in the head, I pulled up the two most recent Corvette spy shots that were shared in the last week. First up is the widebody camouflaged RHD E-Ray that was captured leaving the Milford Proving Ground. When it passes, we see the Stingray-style LT2 exhaust tips that are more squared off then the Z06-Export exhaust tips which are seen in these photos.

E-Ray LT2-Style Tips Z06 Export Tips

Of course the E-Ray would have the same tips as the Stingray because they share the LT2 V8 and the same Tenneco exhaust system. Are the outflow pipes to the Z06 Exhaust tips wider to accommodate the LT6? I feel like that’s the case but can’t put my hands on those specs. We read elsewhere that the Z06 export tips are also the same tips on the Cadillac Escalade V. Sometimes we see what we want to see, but after careful review, I am now thinking it’s not an E-Ray.

However, we do question the vertical condenser placed in front of the driver-side radiator and what that might be used for. My original notes are below, but yeah, not an E-Ray…

We got a great video from Speed Phenom today and we finally get to see some track battles with his new 2023 Corvette Z06. Speed returns to Willow Springs and nearly the entire video is shot Point of View (POV) from behind the wheel, with some other cameras providing great views as well.

Also on the track are several Porsches and even a Tesla Plaid is out, and Speed tracks them down and passes with ease. The nice on-screen shoutout he gives each one is a nice touch!

Grand Slam: C8 Corvette Named to Car and Driver's 10Best for 4th Straight Year

The C8 is still undefeated! Car and Driver released the 40th incarnation of the world’s most prestigious automotive list on Monday, and even in its fourth year on the market, the mid-engine Corvette stands tall as one of the greatest vehicles on sale. To meet eligibility requirements, a car has to go on sale by January 31, and a price ceiling is always in effect. This year, inflation pushed C&D’s MSRP cap “to a Chevrolet Corvette Z06–size $110,000,” which they assure readers is a complete coincidence.
