Spy photographers have once again caught up with the 2014 C7 Corvette as it’s undergoing cold weather testing in Ontario, Canada. Instead of just pictures, we have video of what appears to be two C7 prototypes testing in the cold and one segment of tape actually captures the exhaust note coming from the engine.

Continuing our recap of the January 2012 Corvette auctions, we bring to you the no-reserve sale of the first Corvette ZR1 to be produced in 2010. First VIN Corvettes have always been a hot commodity among collectors, highlighted by the purchase of the 2009 VIN 001 Corvette ZR1 for $1 million by Dave Ressler. Unlike the first year ZR1, this 2010 Corvette ZR1 is meant to be driven as the first owner put 3,934 miles on the Jetstream Blue sports car.

January 2012 Corvette Sales

General Motors issued their sales report and if you haven’t heard the news, it was a pretty dismal month for sales across the board for GM brands. While overall Chevy sales were down only -1.2%, sales of the Corvette dropped nearly -13% to 629 for the month, a number we haven’t seen since February 2010.

President Obama can’t resist the allure of the mighty Corvette ZR1 and took the opportunity to take a seat in the 638-hp Carbon Flash Centennial Edition during a visit to the Washington Auto Show on January 31, 2012. The Washington Auto Show is held at the Washington Convention Center and will run through Sunday, February 5th.

1969 L88 Corvette Roadster Sells for $610,000 at Mecum's 2012 Kissimmee Auction

With so much going on in Kissimmee last weekend with the NCRS Regional and the Mecum collector car auction going on simultaneously, it was hard to be in two places at one time. After putting in a full day at the NCRS Regional, I arrived at the Mecum auction early Friday evening and as I walked into the front entrance, I heard the gavel fall as the auctioneer yelled “SOLD SOLD SOLD – $610,000″. I knew right away I had just missed the sale of this 1969 L88 Corvette Roadster.

The National Corvette Museum’s Corvette raffles provides the non-profit organization with the necessary funds to carry out their day to day operations. But let’s face it, not everyone can participate in some of the higher end raffles which cost anywhere from $100 to $500 per ticket. That’s why we appreciate the raffle coming up this Thursday that’s for us “regular Joes” who can afford to lay down $10 for the opportunity to help the museum and maybe win a brand new 2012 Corvette Coupe!

1961 Corvette Gulf Oil Race Car a No-Sale at Mecum's 2012 Kissimmee Auction

The 1961 Corvette Gulf Oil race car was one of the centerpieces of Mecum’s 2012 Kissimmee auction and it drew massive attention when it hit the auction block Saturday afternoon. Bidding on the Grady Davis Gulf Oil-sponsored Corvette was fast and furious at the beginning but eventually stalled at $850,000 and the car went unsold. The reserve was undisclosed and the auctioneer only said that it would take “more”.
