Kitten Goes for 180-Mile Ride Under the Hood of Chevy Corvette

We’ve all heard about kiddie rides at the fair.

Well, how about “kitty rides”?

We’ve found one of those stories that just begs for puns like that. Here’s another obvious one: This guy’s Corvette was really purring like a kitten. Or how about: Was she just “a cat on a hot tin (fiberglass?) hood”? Okay, okay, we’ll stop, but we couldn’t resist.

A 1968 Corvette Stolen a Decade Ago Found in Aussie Shipping Container

Kids figured out long ago that you just never know what might be waiting in that big box when you open it on your birthday.

Well, that philosophy recently took an unusual turn down under.

Wharf inspectors in Brisbane, Australia finally opened a shipping container which had been sitting undisturbed on the docks for a decade and lo and behold discovered a stolen 1968 Corvette resting inside. The owner had reported the white convertible with a black top stolen 10 years ago and apparently went on his merry way after receiving an insurance payout.

August 2012 Corvette Sales

In its latest monthly sales report, General Motors listed 1,210 Corvettes sold in the month of August 2012. This was a 29.3% increase over August 2011′s 936 Corvette sold and represents a 24% increase in sales from the 986 Corvettes sold in July 2012. For the Calendar year to date, a total of 9,870 Corvettes have been sold, maintaining a modest 1.1% increase over the same time periord in 2011.

A group of Chevy engineers testing the 2014 C7 Corvette prototypes were spotted in and around the town of Red River, New Mexico late last week. A member on the Corvette Forum named 10KillerVette found this out when his dad called him to say he just saw two C7 Corvettes in full camouflage testing in the mountains around the town. Like any Corvette fan would do, 10KillerVette aka Sean Ziese told his dad Richard to “get his ass back out on the roads with a camera!” And that’s exactly how we got these photos and a brief video to share with you!

Gavin and Magnussen Claim Second Row in Fast and Furious Qualifying at VIR

ALTON, Va., Sept. 14, 2012 – Corvette Racing drivers Oliver Gavin and Jan Magnussen locked up the second row in GT qualifying for Saturday’s VIR 240 at Virginia International Raceway. Gavin qualified the No. 4 Compuware Corvette C6.R third in the 11-car GT field at 1:46.409 (110.630 mph). Magnussen qualified the No. 3 Compuware Corvette C6.R fourth at 1:46.497 (110.538 mph) in the American Le Mans Series’ first visit to the Virginia track. Johannes van Overbeek claimed the GT pole in the No. 01 Ferrari with a fast lap at 1:45.988 (111.069 mph).

A 1969 Corvette is providing a chance for a father and son to come closer together as they work side by side to restore the classic Chevrolet.

Jason Tueller, 21, and his 53-year-old dad, Shayne Tueller, say the restoration project is also providing them a chance to heal after the unexpected death last year of Jason’s sister, Jessica Tueller, 25.
