Ever since I saw this photo a couple weeks back, I’ve been meaning to post it here. I always enjoy seeing old photos of Corvettes in their vintage settings, which for me harkins back to a somewhat more innocent time for America. So why not use the occasion to kick off a new weekly series of posts with vintage pictures of Corvettes!

Callaway Competition GmbH, the German-based segment of Callaway Cars, has been chosen to develop the new Corvette C7 into a GT3-class race car and submit it for homologation from the FIA.
Original equipment manufacturers like Chevrolet have to authorize specialists like Callaway to submit the homologation forms needed to allow their version of the car to be the one allowed in FIA competition.
Yesterday we shared the instrumented testing data of the 2014 Corvette Stingray from Edmunds.com and now this morning we can also share Motor Trend’s test of the C7.
Motor Trend tested both a Z51 Stingray with a a 7-Speed manual at GM’s proving grounds, but they also had the opportunity to test a Z51 Stingray with an automatic transmission on public roads in Central California. So their review contains both performance estimates from their tests as well as the more subjective review from driving the Stingray on public streets.
Our friends at Corsa Performance and the Corvette Cleveland club are hosting their 11th Annual Corvettes at CORSA car show this Sunday, July 28th. The event is free for spectators and runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Organizers are expecting about 250 Corvettes to attend including the 2014 Corvette Stingray.
Looks like several of the automotive magazines and websites got their chance to drive the 2014 Corvette Stingray recently as we’ve saw a number of tweets hit just after 5:00 pm ET today with links to articles and videos by the likes of Edmunds, Motor Trend and Automobile Magazine.
The testing was held at GM’s proving grounds and Edmunds provides this video showing the new Stingray undergoing instrumented track testing which includes 0-60, quarter mile, braking, slalom, and skidpad.

Steve Lane says he has never won anything in his life before, but all that changed on Sunday, July 14th when his name was drawn from 10,000 raffle tickets at the Saint Bernard Summer Social in Rockport, Indiana. His prize? A Horizon Blue 1960 Corvette Roadster valued at $70,000.
We heard the exhaust in person on a pair of Corvette Stingrays that were the hit of the Bash at the National Corvette Museum back in April and loved the beautiful – and very different – sounds emanating from both cars as they were driven out of the museum.
Now Autoblog.com has posted a video that shows three different sounds coming from the same Stingray, courtesy of the optional dual mode performance exhaust, available at a cost of $1,195.
We all have heard numerous fascinating stories about the history, performance and build specifications of found then often restored Corvettes over the last several years.
“Barn find” cars of all types are always special and it seems that Terry Michaelis’ has had more than his share of interesting barn-find Corvettes, finding two 1963 Z06′s with race histories within the same year. After selling the first barn find, Michaelis began an impeccable restoration on his second race Z06 discovery, the car originally campaigned by Dick Lang in the early 60′s. This 1963 Corvette Z06 was found in a barn less than twenty miles from Dick Lang’s original Chevrolet dealership, and today, following Michaelis’ impeccable restoration, at a cost of over $200,000, it is now being shown and winning concours throughout the country.
But perhaps an equally, if not more interesting story is the story of C.J. Titterington’s 1963 Z06 race car which will be displayed along side of Terry Michaelis’ Z06 at the upcoming Concours d’Elegance of America in Michigan.
