As the track for Hurricane Leslie (now a Tropical Storm) takes it over Canada’s Newfoundland today and into the North Atlantic, we are getting updates on twitter from some of the damage that has occurred. Unfortunately, one C4 Corvette owner’s car was smashed after a large shed had taken flight and landed on his red sports car.
Corvettes – and Chevrolet – dominated at Laguna Seca Raceway over the weekend.
Richard Westbrook started from the pole position in the No. 9 Spirit of Daytona Corvette Daytona Prototype (DP) and then joined forces with teammate Antonio Garcia to win the Continental Tire Sports Car Festival GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series race Sunday.
In the process, Westbrook and Garcia became the first team to win three Rolex DP races this season. Overall, it was the seventh Corvette DP win of its inaugural season and moved Chevrolet closer to the highly sought Engine Manufacturers’ Championship with one race left.

Inspired by memories of a C1 that got away from him a long time ago, the Salina, Kansas man took charge this time, and the result is a 1962 Corvette resto-mod that’s absolutely music to his ears – and everyone who sees and hears it.
The guys at D2FORGED sent over these pics from their latest photoshoot. The subject being a Cyber Gray Corvette Z06 with D2FORGED MB1 wheels. I just love the contrast that black wheels provide against Cyber Gray and the way the small touches of red trim on the lug nuts and center cap accent the red calipers.

Corvette enthusiasts are getting a sneak peek at some of the memorabilia that will be included in a 100th Anniversary Time Capsule being gathered by Mid America Motorworks.
This week, Mid America’s Mike Yager revealed four of the rare and meaningful items that have been donated to the time capsule that will ultimately be opened up on the Corvette’s 100th anniversary in 2053.
Mecum Auctions will offer roughly 165 Corvettes for sale this week as part of their 2nd annual Dallas auction. The event kicks off Wednesday, September 5th and runs through Saturday, September 8th. The venerable Velocity crew will have 18 hours of live auction coverage from the event. The future of sports car racing in North America just got a bit more interesting with Wednesday’s announcement that NASCAR’s Grand-AM Series and the American Le Mans Series would merge into one entity beginning in 2014. Also included in the merger is Road Atlanta and the racing lease on Sebring International Raceway.
