The National Corvette Museum is a great venue to host an event and we’ve learned that this summer they will be hosting their first auto auction. Hartland Auctioneers will be handling the gavel duties and right now they are seeking quality consignments for the sale that will be held the weekend of July 13-14th.
Here’s some eyecandy from our friends at D2FORGED who hit us up on twitter yesterday to share these pics of a Pewter C5 Corvette Convertible riding on their CV2 concave wheels. I’ve always maintained that the wheels guys have the best photos and D2FORGED doesn’t let us down with their latest photoset.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced that they’re opening a preliminary investigation involving early C6 Corvette Headlights. They’ve received 30 complaints from drivers stating that the low beam headlights turn off on their own while driving at night.
SALINAS, Calif. – (May 11, 2013) – A well-executed team effort helped Corvette Racing return to victory lane at the 2.238-mile, 11-turn Laguna Seca road course for the second consecutive year. Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia, drivers of the No. 3 Compuware Corvette C6.R, scored their first American Le Mans Series (ALMS) GT Class win of the season and first since 2011. Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner, drivers of the No. 4 Compuware Corvette C6.R scored Corvette Racing’s first win of 2013 in the season-opening race at Sebring.
Dana Mecum’s name is being changed to “Indiana Mecum” because like “Indiana Jones” he has a way of finding treasures, Corvette treasures, and offering them for sale at his vaunted Indianapolis Spring Auction, May 14th through May 19th.
This year “Indiana Mecum” will auction over 2,000 collector cars and motorcycles during his six day extravaganza. But as usual, he saves the real “treasures” to auction on Saturday, May 18th. On that special day Mecum is offering no less than twenty five Corvettes centered around seven high-end, meticulously restored award winning second generation cars, three third generation Corvettes and five restomodded vettes. These special cars presale estimates range from $120K to $600K.
Corvette Racing is in California this week as the American Le Mans Series returns to Monterey and the famed Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca. After two races this year, the standings are tight with Chevrolet owning just a 3 point lead over BMW in the Manufacturers Championship. Last year, the Yellow and Black Corvette C6.Rs had tremendous success with a 1-2 finish in GT. Will they be able to repeat in Saturday’s 4 hour race into darkness?
We’ve stumbled across another cool unrestored Corvette listed on eBay. Early last week we found the 1953 Survivor up for bids and now we’ve got this silver 327/350hp 1966 convertible seeking a new home. The hidden roadster was pulled from a barn in 2010 and claimed a Bloomington Gold Survivor Award in 2012.
