The times, they are a changing!

That’s the first line that popped into my head this morning as we got an advance look at the pricing schedule for the 2024 Corvettes. Specifically, our eyes slightly bulged as we read that R8C Deliveries at the National Corvette Museum are going up 50% and will now be priced at $1,495.

We’ve still got a couple of days before the pricing for the 2024 Corvette models are expected to drop officially, but I just had an interesting email pop up in the mailbox with some new pricing info for the 2024 Corvette E-Ray.

As we inch closer to the start of the 2024 Corvette model year, many are believing that next year’s Corvettes will come with a healthy price increase. 2024 will be the fifth year of production for the Corvette Stingray and the second year for the Z06, along with the introduction of the new 2024 Corvette E-Ray.

The fine folks at Car and Driver recently published their first big comparison test of the Summer, and it’s a doozy! That’s right, the publication that doesn’t quite know which way the Ukrainian flag goes recently wrangled the two most enthusiast-centric cars of this generation – the C8 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and the 992-Generation Porsche 911 GT3. Once in possession of these final torch-bearers of high-revving naturally aspirated goodness, they embarked on a road (and track) trip to their favorite southern Ohio roads and back to Michigan for some hot laps at the 2.1-mile GingerMan Raceway.

The “Old Timers” may take a little longer to get the job done, but don’t they look sharp going down the drag strip?

The funny guys at the Cars and Zebras channel on YouTube recently shared these drag races between a couple of unlikely “old geezers” – a 1974 Corvette and a super rare 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass Pace Car.

When you purchase a new C8 Corvette Stingray or Z06, you are automatically granted a voucher to attend the two-day Corvette Owner’s School at Spring Mountain Motor Report and Country Club in Pahrump, Nevada which is about an hour west of Las Vegas. That voucher is good for one year and your cost to attend is just $1,000. If you don’t take advantage of it, you are really short-changing your Corvette driving experience as you will learn all about controlling these high performance sports cars on the safe confines of a track as opposed to on the street, and the lessons learned there can be applied to any driving situation.

Last year during the Corvettes at Carlisle show, our friends at Callaway Cars revealed they were finally working on a supercharged version of the C8 Corvette Stingray and they showed off a 2.3-liter TripleCooled Supercharger system featuring a roots-type Eaton TVS2300 topping the Stingray’s LT2 V8 engine. Callaway stated at the time that production would start sometime in 2023 and they began collecting $1000 deposits from interested customers.

Like most red-blooded American males, your author and his dad like to keep our conversations nice and simple. We mostly talk about sports, sometimes throw in a pinch of current events, and we like to serve heavy helpings of things that transcend generations, like our mutual appreciation of Salma Hayek. One of our favorite topics, though, is the American automobile. When it comes to the modern domestic performance cars that we both love, we even have a game of sorts that we play. Once in a while, we both open up our respective favorites lists Auto Trader, eBay Motors, and the like, and we make our best Steve Harvey impression – I’ve got a good one for you – and we try to one-up the cars that the other has recently saved.

We are now halfway through the 2023 calendar year, and we have an update to share on Corvette sales through the Top 10 dealers.

If you want to see a more expanded list, you can view it here. This latest update covers deliveries for the first half of 2023 with sales from January 1st thru June 30th. The one major difference from the previous update is that the data shows the sales quantities for each month.

For many reasons, this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans really felt like it was a “Must Win” for Corvette Racing, who hadn’t seen the winner’s circle at the race since 2015. With the first mid-engine Corvette C8.R racer headed to retirement at the end of the season, the team really wanted to send it out with a bang. And what a bang it was, considering how they battled back from a near-insurmountable two-lap deficit early in the race to take the LMGTE-Am class win. It was the ninth class win for Corvette Racing and this really was a win for the ages!
