Callaway Corvettes at the 2009 Supercar Weekend

The 2009 Supercar Weekend was held along the waterfront in downtown West Palm Beach, Florida over January 24-27th. The gathering is billed as the largest supercar show in the world as collectors and enthusiasts showcase their modern and classic sportscars. Our friend Justin Society was there and provided us with a recap of the Corvettes that were in attendance.

2009’s Supercar Weekend in West Pam Beach Florida had a myriad of supercars ranging from Nissan GTR’s to Koenigsegg CCX’s. In the past there have been few Corvettes at the event but 2009 was different. There were more corvettes present then ever before. A few Mosler MT900s, the Corvette’s distant cousin, also showed up.

The classic Corvettes of the C1 and C2 generations were displayed but so were some modern day marvels. Reeves Callaway was personally showing two Corvette C16’s and two new C6 Callaway’s with an LS3 engine. The orange C16 he was showing was the first one built and made the cover of many magazines when it was released in 2007. C16 008 in Crystal Red was also there and attracted just as large a crowd. There were also many modified C6 Z06’s as well as a Lingenfelter C6 with Lamborghini seats. Surrounded by Porsche’s and Ford GT’s the Corvettes looked right at home. Hopefully next year even more Corvette’s of all generations will make an appearance for a great day of fun in South Florida.

Now in its fourth year, the Supercars weekend looks to be attracting a national audience as well as established names like Reeves Callaway, Henrik Fisker and Jim Glickenhaus. Hopefully next year it won’t conflict with being held the same weekend as the Mecum Kissimmee auction and the NCRS Winter Regional as we’d love to see these Corvettes in person.
