003 Sells for 1 Million Dollars

#003, the oldest surviving Corvette was auctioned at Barrett-Jackson on Saturday for One Million Dollars. Okay, I can’t say that without thinking about Austin Power’s Dr. Evil. But sold it did for $1,080,000. No word on who the buyer was although word on the street is that both ProTeam Corvette’s Terry Michaelis and Dana Mecum from Mecum auctions were both unsuccessful in bidding for this truly historic Corvette. Read our previous post for more information on #003.

  1. I can’t believe that it didn’t go for more!! When I watched that GM bus thing sell for over 4 million I would have been willing to bet that #003 would become the most expensive car sold at the auction. What a deal!!! If only I had had a million bucks to my name I would have gladly spent every penny I had because it’s worth much more!! Everybody in the corvette community knows what you’re talking about if you say the words number 3. I really wish I would have seen it go for more. Talk about a wise investment!!
