Video: Building the Last C4 Corvette

by Keith Cornett on November 2, 2007

A friend of mine sent me this video which tells the story of the assembly of the last C4 Corvette, 1996′s VIN 21,477. The Corvette was purchased by Mid America Motorwork’s Mike Yager who was able to follow the corvette down the line as it was being assembled. Mike talked and joked with the workers and he encourged them to leave their signature somewhere on the car. The Corvette still resides in Mike’s collection to this day.

1963 Split Window Corvette Featured in PGR4 Commercials

by Keith Cornett on October 8, 2007

The story of these videos is that a section of streets in downtown Los Angeles was closed for a commercial shoot for the Project Gotham Racing video game. The commercial features a Tesla Roadster, a Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren, a Ferrari F430, a Yamaha motorcycle and our favorite, a 1963 Split Window Coupe Corvette. The cars were driven by professionals, but were “supposedly” driving in a manner that was to reflect the skills of everyday drivers. In other words, there were several near misses in the intersection and at one point the Ferrari (unintentionally, I believe) hit the retaining wall. (note: If the player asks you to click here to view more videos in the playlist, just reload the page)

Watch these videos and then tell me driving like this wouldn’t be a blast. That Sting Ray’s exhaust reverberating off the downtown walls of is awesome!

Vette Dogs Episode 10: Season One is a Wrap

by Keith Cornett on September 30, 2007

Our friends at Digital Corvettes have released Episode 10 of Vette Dogs, which is the final chapter of what is being called Season 1. The storyline for the inaugural season follows Patrick Gramm and fellow DC member Steve Hardy and as they took on the Cannonball One Lap of America. As in the previous episodes, the production values are high and the scenes are filled with eye candy for those of us who love Corvettes.

Based on comments from Patrick on the DC forums, it sounds as though a Season 2 is in the works. We can only hope it comes sooner rather than later as we looked forward to the (nearly) weekly releases of each episode at VetteDogs.com.

Second Video of Corvette ZR-1 Surfaces

by Keith Cornett on September 22, 2007

LeftLaneNews.com has a Brenda Priddy spy video that features a drive-by of the same Corvette ZR-1 that was captured earlier this week in Colorado. Still can’t make out any discernable whine from a supercharger, but the exhaust note is awe-inspiring:

Corvette ZR-1 Caught on Video!

by Keith Cornett on September 20, 2007

FastLaneDaily.com is the first to capture the new supercharged Corvette ZR-1/Blue Devil/SS on video. The 2 minute YouTube clip shows the supercar undergoing road testing somewhere in Colorado. At the end of the video, we finally hear the exhaust that everyone who has ever seen this car in person talks about.

BadBoyVettes calls it their FanCam due to its mounting location. We simply call it awesome! The BBV on-board camera was mounted on the rear of the #4 Corvette C6.R at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin a couple of weekends ago and as Dan from BBV describes, the footage is “just like that taken from their onboard camera at LeMans, only going the other way”!

Vette Dogs: Oklahoma’s Hallett Motor Racing Circuit

by Keith Cornett on August 20, 2007

Episode 7 brings us to the Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in Oklahoma for day 6 of the Cannonball One Lap of America. The Hallett track features a nice assortment of twists and straightaways. Despite losing his ABS brakes, traction control and active handling at the end of episode 6, Patrick pushes his DigitalCorvettes’ Z06 as fast as he dares in the style of what he calls “driving like a grandma”.

Damn, living in Florida makes me wish all grandma’s drove like Patrick.
