We got a great new Corvette owner story from Corvette sales specialist Mike Furman at Criswell Corvette. Mike shared with us a note he received from Air Force Colonel Gordy “Fuze” Dexter, a combat pilot with 200 missions under his belt who has also won Top Gun 17 times. Mike was able to put Gordy into a Cyber Gray 2013 Corvette 427 and let’s just say the Colonel is impressed!

We first told you about this highly decorated 1969 L88 convertible back in August 2012 when it was about to cross Mecum’s Anaheim auction block. There it was bid to $550,000 and did not sell. Last week it traversed Gooding and Co’s Scottsdale auction stage and hammered sold for $750,000. Throw in the 10% buyer’s fee and the new owner wrote a check for $825,000 to take this baby home.

CorvetteBlogger was the first to tell you the 2014 Corvette Stingray Coupe would be sold at Barrett-Jackson and tonight the red Stingray made its auction debut at the collector car auction in Scottsdale. Offered by General Motors is the first Retail VIN #001 2014 Corvette Stingray and the proceeds of the sale would go to charity.
Mecum Auctions continues to release details on some of the outstanding Corvettes they’ve got lined up for their Kissimmee auction later this month. In addition to a Survivor 1963 Z06 and the ‘entombed’ 1954 Corvette, this mega rare 1971 ZR2 will be crossing the block on Saturday January 27th around 4pm EST.
One of the most mystical Corvettes ever built is the 1963 Grand Sport, with only five of the very special high-performance vehicles ever made by Zora Arkus-Duntov and his crew before GM brass cancelled the project.
Through the years, sure, there have been replicas made of the Grand Sport. But now, you can buy a brand new Grand Sport, licensed by GM, through Superformance.
We can all take a trip down Memory Lane with “car guy” Jay Leno of The Tonight Show and Ed Welburn, vice president of design for General Motors, during an episode of Jay Leno’s Garage.
With Corvettes definitely in the news these days because of the impending unveiling of the C7, GM decided to throw a little fuel on the fire and send four of their most important cars in the General Motors Heritage Center collection to Leno’s garage for The Tonight Show host to drool over.
Here is an interesting Corvette spotted on the Boulevard inside the National Corvette Museum. It’s a 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible with the 60th Anniversary package. But as you can see, the Corvette is also wearing the same Indy 500 graphics that the 2013 Corvette ZR1 wore as the Pace Car for the Greatest Spectacle in Racing earlier this year in May.
If you’ve been around the Corvette hobby for awhile then you have most likely seen examples of Scott Teeter’s Corvette artwork. Scott has been illustrating Corvettes since the mid-seventies and his column The Illustrated Corvette Series has run in every issue of VETTE magazine since the Spring of 1997.
Scott’s artistry is on display at www.IllustratedCorvetteSeries.com and his Corvette drawings would make a great gift for the Corvette enthusiast in your life! Check out some of Scott’s latest work, the Corvette Postage Stamp Series.
Longtime Corvette Museum supporter Harvey Gluck just picked up his 63rd Corvette and this one is a stunner. It’s a 2013 Corvette ZR1 in Night Race Blue with a 60th Anniversary stripe running down the body. Harvey was presented with the ZR1 at the National Corvette Museum by Corvette Marketing Manager John Fitzpatrick.
