Great news for Indy 500 Corvette pace car fans. Autoweek is claiming that the 2014 Corvette Stingray will be the pace car for the Greatest Spectacle in Racing and they say they have the spy photos to prove it. The photos show a specially-equipped Laguna Blue 2014 Corvette Stingray with safety lights testing at the Milford Proving Grounds.

With the base Corvette Stingray already unveiled to the world months ago, everyone is now eagerly waiting to see what Chevy does with the higher-performance models like the Z06 and ZR1.

Last year, Callaway produced a special run of 25 Grand Sports to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Callaway’s RPO B2K – the first turbo-charged Corvettes offered by the factory. The new 2014 Corvette Stingray was one of the star attractions at the Amelia Island Concours earlier this month. In addition to showing off the new C7, they also gathered together a collection of some very rare 1963 Sting Rays as well. Now that the calendar has officially flipped over to spring, it’s time to shift your Corvette shopping into high gear. Auctions America will be offering almost 40 Corvettes as part of their 550 car docket this weekend in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Included in the bevy of available vehicles are a Motion Performance-built C3, a low mile 1978 Pace Car, and the very last Ron Fellows Z06.
In 1964, Chevy engineers imagined hanging an aluminium Corvette engine off the back of the frame as part of an engineering study on safety and crash zones. Zora wasn’t really on board with the project until Larry Shinoda penned a design that many claim was the genesis for the C3 Corvette. The result was XP-819, a radical looking rear wheel drive prototype.
The Corvette was famously wrecked on the GM proving grounds after a tire test and while it was put back together, Chevy pretty much washed it hands of XP-819 after the accident and moved on in developing several other notable rear-engine prototypes.

Early Thursday morning just after 8 am, an Arctic White 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible rolled off the assembly line at Bowling Green’s Corvette Assembly Plant. Not only was it the final Corvette of the 2013 model year, but it was also the very last C6 Corvette made.
Remember back in the 1990s when Chevrolet had thoughts of coming out with a low-budget stripped-down C5 Corvette?
For whatever reason, Chevy never really followed through on those plans, although it did offer the slightly less expensive hardtop model in 1999 and 2000 before it morphed into the higher performance (and more expensive) Z06.
Now, the C7 hasn’t even hit the asphalt (driven by the public, anyway), and the rumor mill is abuzz this week that Chevrolet is working on a low-budget version of its seventh-generation car.
