[VIDEO] 1960 #3 Le Mans Corvette Documentary The Quest to Premiere in May

When the class-winning 1960 #3 Briggs Cunningham Corvette returned to France in 2010, it marked the 50th anniversary of its historic victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Filmmaker Michael Brown documented the dream of renowned Corvette enthusiast Chip Miller in this feature-length saga of machine and man as well as the promise of a son to fulfill his father’s wish that was 50 years in the making. “The Quest” will make its worldwide premiere at Carlisle, PA on May 6th with proceeds benefiting the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation.

[VIDEO] Corvette Racing's Video Series: Episode 1 - Paddle Shifter Testing at Road Atlanta

Corvette Racing broke new ground last year with their Track to Street video series that chronicled the 2010 ALMS and 24 Hours of Le Mans campaigns. The series focused on everything from individual race results to the racing technology that is transferred to the regular production Corvettes (hence the name Track to Street). So it is good news for Corvette fans that GM Racing is continuing the series for the 2011 season which according to our watch, started the day after the #4 Corvette’s dramatic win at Petit Le Mans last October.

The next three episodes of The Speed Business from Gramm Productions are now online. The video series follows race team owner/driver Tony Gaples and his silver C6 Corvette as he campaigns Blackdog Racing through 2005′s SCCA Pro Racing “Speed World Challenge”. Where the first three episodes took place at Infineon raceway in Sonoma, CA, Episodes 4-6 of the The Speed Business follow the team as the prepare, qualify and race at Portland.

Corvettes Run Fastest Lap in GT Class in Every Session of Two-Day Sebring Test

SEBRING, Fla., Feb. 10, 2011 – Corvette Racing’s twin Compuware Corvette C6.Rs ran the fastest laps in all four sessions of the two-day American Le Mans Series Winter Test at Sebring International Raceway. After Jan Magnussen turned the quickest times in the first three sessions on the historic circuit in the No. 4 Corvette C6.R, Olivier Beretta posted the fastest lap of the test in the GT class with the No. 3 Corvette C6.R in the final session.

Every year, Corvette Racing refreshes the design of the factory C6.Rs for the upcoming season. Some recent notables include the Jake Scrape and the reverse B-Pillar Jakes at Monterey. Fans, bored to death during the off-season, cite the annual unveiling of the livery as one of the things they look forward to. So yesterday’s sighting of the new 2011 Corvette Racing livery at the Sebring 2-day test burned up and down the intertubes and feedback is coming in. What we want to know from you is, do you approve?

Corvette Racing's New 2011 C6.R Livery Spotted at Sebring Test

Facebook user John Machaqueiro spotted Pratt & Miller’s trailers set up for the two day test at Sebring International Raceway that begins tomorrow. Parked next to it was the #4 Corvette C6.R showing off its new livery for the 2011 season. Once again, the team’s livery maintains the yellow and black paint scheme with the major change being the silver “barbed wire/throwing stars” look giving way to a silver stripe beginning as a point on the doors and then wrapping around the rear. Another new addition is the commemorative Chevrolet 100 Years logo on the hood.

1961 Corvette Racer Sells for $55,000 at Mecum's 2011 Kissimmee Auction

This ermine white and blue stripe 1961 Corvette was built for one reason – racing. A radio/heater delete car, this Corvette came from the factory equipped with a solid-lifter 315 horsepower fuel injected 283 ci engine and is one of 233 Corvettes with RPO 687 – the special heavy duty brakes and suspension package. Last weekend, this vintage 1961 Competition-spec Corvette Race car was sold at Mecum’s 2011 Kissimmee auction for $55,000.

The Corvette Museum’s Motorsport Park project got a shot in the arm on Friday night following the sale of the 2011 Le Mans Anniversary Corvette Z06 at the 2011 Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale. The sale of the White/Blue one-off VIN #001 Corvette Z06 for $210,000 to NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick was probably a little lower than what the NCM was looking for, but every little bit helps!
