Corvette Racing Completes Successful Two-Day Test in Sebring

Chevrolet Team Continues Development of New Corvette C6.R Race Cars

SEBRING, Fla., Feb. 9, 2012 – This was only a test – but as the final shakedown before the season-opening 60th Anniversary Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, the two-day ALMS Winter Test at Sebring International Raceway was crucial for Corvette Racing. The Chevrolet team continued to develop its new Compuware Corvette C6.R race cars and integrate its new driver lineups. The team also unveiled its 2012 livery that features Jake, the team mascot, in the striking yellow and black graphics.

Jake Marks the Spot on Corvette Racing's New Livery

Corvette Racing’s Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner tweeted photos today of the new paint scheme that will be on the Corvette C6.Rs for the 2012 American Le Mans Series and the 24 Hours of Le Mans campaigns. The livery is an evolution from the previous two years but new is the large Jake graphic that appears just under the race car’s B-pillar.

1960 JRG Special Corvette Racer Sells for $88,878 at Bonhams Paris

This classic 1960 Corvette racer was sold February 2nd at the Bonhams Paris sale. It is a sister car to the cars that ran Le Mans in 1960. The gold-with-red-stripes racer owned by Corvette author and enthusiast Tom Falconer changed hands for €67,850 with all fees. That’s $88,878 to you and me.

[VIDEO] C5 Z06 Corvette Chases Down a C6 ZR1 at the Track

Watch this C5 Z06 take on a C6 ZR1 and hold its own.

This video – taken at the National Auto Sport Association’s Hunka Hunka Burnin’ Rubber at Memphis International Raceway in July 2011 and found on Pfadt Race Engineering’s Facebook page – features a matchup between those two vehicles.

The result shows that a little driving skill can sometimes match up with big horsepower.

Corvette DP Finishes 5th at 50th Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona

The Corvette Daytona Prototypes made their inaugural debut at the 50th Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona. After a brutal 24 hours of round-the-clock racing, the No. 5 Action Express Corvette DP led the way for Team Chevy and the Corvette DPs with a 5th place overall finish. Corvette Racing’s factory drivers in the No. 90 Spirit of Daytona Racing Corvette DP finished 8th while in GT, Tommy Milner and Jordan Taylor in the No. 88 Autohaus Camaro GT.R finished 10th in class.

Chevrolet is ready to kick off the GRAND-AM Racing 2012 season as five new Corvette Daytona Prototypes are ready for their first combat mission at this weekend’s Rolex 24 at the Daytona International Speedway. Also competing at the Rolex 24 under the Team Chevy banner are three Camaros running in the GT class.

Johnny O'Connell Joins Bondurant as VP of Global Operations and Corvette ZR1 Instructor

The Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving has named Corvette Racing icon Johnny O’Connell as vice-president of global operations, effective immediately.

O’Connell will oversee international expansion opportunities at the request of Bob Bondurant, who founded the school 44 years ago and has since turned it into the largest purpose-built driving school in the world.

The Quest Documentary to be Screened at the Arizona Biltmore
