Wait, SCCA racing on a frozen lake? Count us in! We don’t see this Stingray take on the whole course but the video shows the painfully slow launch as the Corvette begins its run.

Filmed at the Saginaw Valley SCCA Ross Lake ice race in Beaverton MI on Jan 26th 2014. Here’s a sound clip of a stock 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray Z51 with dual mode performance exhaust. The new LT1 engine sounds great. Yes, it actually did race the ice race!

The Corvette is owned by Casey Swanseger and he sent us a link to his GoPro video showing the run on the ice course. You can watch it here.

We get to see him suit up and then climb into the new Corvette racecar during a night time pit stop and then drive off to rejoin the field.

Here is another featured race from the StreetCarDrags.com event at Palm Beach International Raceway this past weekend. We’ve got a 2013 Tesla Model S P85 running heads up against the brand new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Z51 with the 6 speed automatic transmission.

While the cars are pretty even for the first 1/8 mile with both trapping 90 MPH, the Corvette starts to pull away on the back half of the track, it all comes down to the launch and reaction time to determine who wins.

The 1956

We knew that the 1956 Corvette that some have dubbed “the Corvette that saved the brand” should go for big money when it was auctioned at Mecum Kissimmee and we were not disappointed.

The hammer fell on Saturday afternoon with “The Real McCoy” reaching a high bid of $2.3 Million, catapulting the little white roadster with the rumbling V8 engine into the top five list of Corvettes sold at auction.
