SRT Viper Production Halted and Factory Racers Sidelined for the 24 Le Mans

While the Corvette Stingray continues to fly off the showroom floors almost faster than Bowling Green can produce them, the same can’t be said for its long-time competitor, the SRT Viper.

In fact, Chrysler just announced that it would suspend production of the Viper for at least two months, leaving 91 hourly workers laid off at the assembly plant in Detroit.

Second and third rows in class for Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs

SEBRING, Fla. (March 14, 2014) – Corvette Racing will roll off the GT Le Mans grid from the second and third rows Saturday for the 62nd Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida. Oliver Gavin qualified the No. 4 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R fourth in GTLM, and Antonio Garcia was fifth in his No. 3 Corvette. The new Corvette C7.R is racing at Sebring for the first time following its debut in January at the Rolex 24 At Daytona.

We’re pretty excited about the 12 Hours of Sebring this week as this our first chance to see and hear the C7.Rs live as they engage in battle with Porsche, Ferrari, BMW and SRT Viper.

Corvette Racing is pretty much a brand new team in terms of their equipment branded now with the C7 crossed flags logo and of course, the new Corvette C7.Rs. They are even two new drivers handling the endurance races.

But maybe the BIGGEST change we’ve seen in the new paddock garage which is a huge inflatable dome.
