With the departure of Johnny O’Connell, Oliver Gavin assumes the unofficial role of senior driver at Corvette Racing. In the nine years since he’s been with factory race team, Gavin has posted 76 starts with 32 wins and 18 poles in ALMS competition and 9 starts with 6 podium finishes including 4 class wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. According to Oliver Gavin on Twitter, the C6.R Corvettes will be wrapping up their prep work at Pratt & Miller and will be heading down the road to Sebring shortly:

When the class-winning 1960 #3 Briggs Cunningham Corvette returned to France in 2010, it marked the 50th anniversary of its historic victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Filmmaker Michael Brown documented the dream of renowned Corvette enthusiast Chip Miller in this feature-length saga of machine and man as well as the promise of a son to fulfill his father’s wish that was 50 years in the making. “The Quest” will make its worldwide premiere at Carlisle, PA on May 6th with proceeds benefiting the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation.

[VIDEO] Corvette Racing's Video Series: Episode 1 - Paddle Shifter Testing at Road Atlanta

Corvette Racing broke new ground last year with their Track to Street video series that chronicled the 2010 ALMS and 24 Hours of Le Mans campaigns. The series focused on everything from individual race results to the racing technology that is transferred to the regular production Corvettes (hence the name Track to Street). So it is good news for Corvette fans that GM Racing is continuing the series for the 2011 season which according to our watch, started the day after the #4 Corvette’s dramatic win at Petit Le Mans last October.

Corvettes Run Fastest Lap in GT Class in Every Session of Two-Day Sebring Test

SEBRING, Fla., Feb. 10, 2011 – Corvette Racing’s twin Compuware Corvette C6.Rs ran the fastest laps in all four sessions of the two-day American Le Mans Series Winter Test at Sebring International Raceway. After Jan Magnussen turned the quickest times in the first three sessions on the historic circuit in the No. 4 Corvette C6.R, Olivier Beretta posted the fastest lap of the test in the GT class with the No. 3 Corvette C6.R in the final session.
