[VIDEO] Corvette Racing 'Flat Out' - 2012 12 Hours of Sebring

Corvette Racing fans were spoiled over the last few years with the “Track to Street” series that gave enthusiasts an upclose and personal look at the people and the cars over the course of the last two ALMS and Le Mans seasons. With three races having already been run in 2012, and no “Track to Street” videos, thinking was that the series was no more.

Well here is some good news. Pratt & Miller posted this new video called Corvette Racing ‘Flat Out’ on their Facebook page and is documents the season opener at the 12 Hours of Sebring.

Gavin Sets the Pace in GTE Pro in No. 74 Corvette C6.R; Taylor Walks Away from Encounter with Tire Wall in No. 73 Corvette C6.R

LE MANS, France, June 3, 2012 – Corvette Racing ended the Le Mans Test Day first and fourth in the GTE Pro category. Oliver Gavin ran the quickest lap in the two four-hour sessions at 3:58.971 in the No. 74 Compuware Corvette C6.R, more than half a second quicker than the car’s qualifying pace last year. The No. 73 Compuware Corvette C6.R covered the 8.5-mile circuit in 4:00.062, the fourth fastest time in the production-based class, before being sidelined by an encounter with a tire wall.

The Quest documentary chronicles the beginnings of Corvette Racing at the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans and then follows Corvettes at Carlisle co-founder Chip Miller as he searched, found and restored the class-winning #3 Briggs Cunningham Corvette racer. Chip had a goal of taking the car and its driver to Le mans in 2010 for the 50th Anniversary of Corvette’s first win, but his plans were cut short when he passed away suddenly in 2004.

RIP Marietta Bob Johnson - Everyman's Corvette Racer

The Corvette racing world lost another legend this month when Robert D. “Marietta Bob” Johnson passed away on May 7, 2012 at age 85.

He earned the nickname “Marietta Bob” to differentiate him from his racing partner, “Columbus Bob” Johnson. They were named for their hometowns in Ohio.

Milner Second Quickest in GT at Laguna Seca, Garcia Grabs Fifth on Final Qualifying Lap

MONTEREY, Calif., May 11, 2012 – Corvette Racing drivers Tommy Milner and Antonio Garcia took different approaches to qualifying for Saturday’s six-hour American Le Mans Series Monterey at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, but both produced top-five results. Milner qualified the No. 4 Compuware Corvette C6.R second in the GT class on his third hot lap with a time of 1:22.661 seconds. Garcia waited until his seventh lap around the 2.238-mile, 11-turn road course in the No. 3 Compuware Corvette to clock in with a 1:22.919 for the fifth qualifying spot.
