After a long day of testing and working through the various setups and changes on the Corvette C6.Rs at the Sebring Winter Test session, the six drivers returned to the track after dark for the annual team picture photo shoot. Chevrolet Team Continues Development of New Corvette C6.R Race Cars
SEBRING, Fla., Feb. 9, 2012 – This was only a test – but as the final shakedown before the season-opening 60th Anniversary Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, the two-day ALMS Winter Test at Sebring International Raceway was crucial for Corvette Racing. The Chevrolet team continued to develop its new Compuware Corvette C6.R race cars and integrate its new driver lineups. The team also unveiled its 2012 livery that features Jake, the team mascot, in the striking yellow and black graphics.
Corvette Racing’s Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner tweeted photos today of the new paint scheme that will be on the Corvette C6.Rs for the 2012 American Le Mans Series and the 24 Hours of Le Mans campaigns. The livery is an evolution from the previous two years but new is the large Jake graphic that appears just under the race car’s B-pillar.
New Driver Alignment to Optimize Performance in Sprint and Endurance Events
DETROIT, Jan. 20, 2012 – A new alignment of drivers will pilot Corvette Racing’s new Compuware Corvette C6.R race cars when they make their competition debut at the season-opening 60th Anniversary Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. With additional testing following the announcement of the 2012 driver roster, the team has now finalized the lineups for the twin Corvettes.
The Chip Miller Charitable Foundation will hold a special showing of the “The Quest”, the Chip Miller/1960 Le Mans documentary this Sunday afternoon at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix, Arizona. Corvette Racing today announced their full roster of drivers for the 2012 season. Returning to the familiar confines of the Corvette C6.R’s are Oliver Gavin, Jan Magnussen, Tommy Milner, Richard Westbrook and Antonio Garcia. As has been widely speculated, Olivier Beretta’s full time seat in the No 3 Corvette C6.R will now be occupied by Antonio Garcia, who has been serving as one of two endurance drivers since 2009. New to the roster is 20 year old American driver Jordan Taylor who will take over the endurance driver duties at Sebring, Le Mans and Petit Le Mans.

Corvette fans can breathe a sigh of relief now that John Fitch, driver of the 1960 Briggs Cunningham Le Mans winning Corvette and the first manager for the Corvette racing team, has been found since being reported missing on Sunday.
After nearly a month of speculation, we have learned that Olivier Beretta and Corvette Racing have parted ways after a successful eight-year run. Risi Competizione announced this morning that the 42 year old ex-Formula 1 driver will join the team as one of six drivers in the two Ferrari 458 Italias entered in the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
It was announced today that Corvette Racing ace Oliver Gavin will be joining the Spirit Of Daytona’s GRAND-AM racing team where he’ll be driving in three endurance races during the 2012 Rolex Sports Car Series. Gavin will drive the new Corvette Daytona Prototype with current Corvette Racing endurance team mates Antonio Garcia and Richard Westbrook in the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen at Watkins Glen and the Indianapolis 3 Hour race.
GRAND-AM’s Spirit of Daytona announced today that Richard Westbrook will be joining the team for the entire 2012 Rolex Sports Car Series season. Westbrook will be driving the No. 90 Corvette Daytona Prototype along with returning Spirit of Daytona Driver Antonio Garcia.
