Corvette Stingray Runs Car and Driver's Lightning Lap but the Camaro Z/28 Steals the Show

The latest Car and Driver issue with the rendering of the mid-engine 2017 Corvette ZORA on the cover also features the results from the magazine’s annual Lightning Lap competition where the latest stock/unmodified offerings from selected manufacturers are raced against the clock at Virginia International Raceway.

For the 7th Annual Lightning Lap, 25 cars were selected and grouped into classes based on selling price and this year’s competition features both the 2014 Corvette Stingray and the 2014 Camaro Z/28. Thanks to a post on the forums at VW Vortex, we have the results!

[VIDEO] Chevrolet Puts the 2015 Corvette's Performance Data Recorder to the Test

C7 Corvette Engineer Tadge Juechter has emphasized all along that everything on the new seventh-generation Stingray has a purpose – or it wouldn’t be there.

Same goes for the new Performance Data Recorder that just became available on the 2015 model.

While some might see the new high-definition camera that records what is going on in front of the Stingray as just an electronic play toy, you better believe that Juechter sees it as much more.

[VIDEO] Regular Car Reviews: 2014 Corvette C7 Stingray

by Keith Cornett on September 3, 2014

Via CorvetteVideos.TV

Those guys from Regular Car Reviews are back and this time they review the 2014 Corvette Stingray. There’s a lot to love in the new Stingray and during the video you will see a couple of instances where they are blown away by the new Corvette. But because the C7 Corvette has been “so hyped in every blog”, they decided to take a contrarian view at the end and point out all the faults of the C7, real or imagined.

This isn’t the first time we’ve showcased a Regular Car Reviews video and if you’ve seen one yet, you’re in for a treat. Here’s their videos for the 1979 C3 Corvette review and the 2008 C6 Corvette Review.

Be warned, some content may not be safe for a work environment.

The Corvette C7 represents America’s desire to be taken seriously in the eyes of Europe. This is nothing new. We’ve been doing it since Henry James Ex-Patted his way from coffee house to coffee house trying to capture the perfect Portrait of a Lady. The C7 goes off faster than I do when I refrain from TOUCHING MYSELF for a week. You can’t see out the back because the ass of the car is higher than your head. Plus, this car is so hyped in every blog…so we’ll see.

Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson Reviews the Corvette Stingray and Calls it a Masterpiece

We wondered when Top Gear’s British pontificator Jeremy Clarkson would give his low-down on the new Corvette Stingray.

Well, we don’t have to wait any longer, and believe it or not, Mr. Clarkson speaks very highly of Chevrolet’s latest creation from across the ocean.

“I’m going to make no bones about this,” he writes. “I drove the Stingray to, and then round, the Top Gear test track the other day, and while I admit that a clear blue sky can make any drophead seem acceptable, I absolutely loved it.”

[VIDEO] New vs Classic. C7 Corvette Stingray Compared to 1963 Corvette Sting Ray

Seems to me when the new vs old comparisons are made, the old classic always comes out on top.

[VIDEO] Automobile Magazine tests the BMW M4 vs the 2014 Corvette Stingray

As long as there are BMWs and Corvettes, there will be ceaseless arguments over which car is the best.

For years, the M3 was considered by many to be head and shoulders above the Corvette, but as Automobile Magazine points out in this video, the new 2014 Stingray can now stand proudly with the latest version of the M3, now called the M4 in the two-door version to differentiate it from the M3 sedans.

Over the weekend, we featured a video from XCAR that was essentially a look at the C2 Corvette from the perspective of those in Europe. Here we have a video first published late last year of a 1966 427 Corvette Sting Ray Sport Coupe in Hong Kong. The classic Corvette has been converted to right-hand-drive and also has fixed Plexiglas headlights.

The video is in English and the cool Sting Ray gets the walk-around treatment before getting on the roads of Hong Kong. A pretty neat setting to see American Muscle.

[VIDEO] C2 Corvette Sting Ray: Terrestrial Spaceship

by Keith Cornett on June 22, 2014

Here’s a great review of the 1967 Corvette Sting Ray (and a healthy dose of classic Corvette history) from XCAR:

The C2 Corvette was the first to have the Stingray name (or Sting Ray as it was then). We take a pristine 1967 model out for a spin to see why it was the car of choice for the coolest men on the planet.

I am sure you’ve played this highly subjective game before with one of your Corvette friends: Old school vs new school. It’s tough enough to judge two different Corvettes from the same year, but what happens when they are separated by over 45 years? Watch the video and tell us in the comments which way you would go!

This week on Generation Gap, Matt and Davin face a tough decision between the undeniable classic style and rarity of the 1963 Split Window Corvette and the modern convenience and power of the 2007 Corvette Z06. Which would you choose?

[VIDEO] 1963 Corvette Sting Ray in Jay Leno's Garage

Here’s one of the most in-depth and informative videos about the 1963 Corvette that we’ve seen.

It’s a segment of Jay Leno’s Garage in which the now retired “Tonight Show” host talks for about 20 minutes to master restorer Mike McCluskey about the 1963 Corvette Split Window fuelie he restored to original condition for the famous comedian/car lover. It’s just one of 24 frame-off restorations of Corvettes that McCluskey has done.
