Corvette Auction Preview: Mecum Houston

Our DVR’s will be working overtime this weekend as we’ve got a 2nd big auction taking place. While Barrett-Jackson is in Palm Beach, Mecum Auctions will be in Houston, Texas this weekend for their second event there. The expanded event takes place Thursday, April 4th through Saturday the 6th at the Reliant Center. Velocity will have 6 hours of live coverage each of the 3 auction days.

Kentucky OK's Tax Incentives for the Corvette Assembly Plant

Good news for General Motors and its Bowling Green, Kentucky assembly plant where the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray will be built starting later this year.

Last Thursday, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority Board approved tax incentives for several expanding companies, including GM.

Last week we attended the New York Auto Show and were able to see the new 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible. It made its American debut wearing Night Race Blue with the 3LT Brownstone interior. While We were very impressed by the new convertible model and its distinct “Corvette” profile, it was the interior that had us wagging our tongues. Chevrolet Inaugurates A New Corvette Club in the UAE

The worldwide appeal of the Chevrolet Corvette was never more evident than during a recent event in Abu Dhabi, thousands of miles away from the assembly plant in Bowling Green, Ky.

An exclusive drag day event for Corvette owners helped kick off the Corvette UAE Club’s Chevrolet Knights chapter on March 15 at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. More than 100 Corvette owners and guests attended the event.

[VIDEO] Chevrolet Shows Off Its Performance Cars Lineup at the New York Auto Show

On Wednesday afternoon at the 2013 New York Auto Show, Chevrolet held its press conference to show off its new performance car lineup. As the crowd of journalists crowded into the North Hall of the Javits Center, we figured something special was in progress when Chevy reps started handing out ear plugs.

The presentation got started with a very loud video showing highlights of Chevrolet racing on the bowtie jumbo-tron. With the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe positioned in the middle of the stage under the bowtie, GM’s North American President Mark Reuss addressed the crowd.

If you are like most enthusiasts about this time of year you are experiencing a bad case of “cabin fever”. Shut in by the cold and the snow and too early to wake your hibernating car from its winter sleep and take it for its initial Spring cruise, you can’t help but think of the warm weather and all of the things you will be doing once your Corvette emerges from beneath its flannel lined custom car cover and once again hits the road. Dispelling the recent rumors that the new C7 Corvette Stingray’s starting price will be approaching or topping $70K, Alan Taylor, automotive journalist and TV personality, said the new Corvette Convertible will retail for about $60K. During a segment on ABC’s popular morning TV show, “LIVE with Kelly and Michael”, Taylor introduced and literally uncovered several of the new cars being displayed and unveiled at the New York Auto Show this week.

The new 2014 Corvette Stingray was one of the star attractions at the Amelia Island Concours earlier this month. In addition to showing off the new C7, they also gathered together a collection of some very rare 1963 Sting Rays as well.
