We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. There’s a lot of technology in the 2014 Corvette Stingray. One of the major advances in the new C7 is the processing of that technology and how its displayed in a way that enhances the driving experience.

When you slide behind the wheel and hit the start button, the dash of the Corvette Stingray springs to life, both through its analog gauges and through the customizable eight inch high-definition screen in the middle of the gauge cluster.

When it comes to rare Corvettes, the conversation naturally bends towards L88’s, big brake fuelie’s, C3 ZR1’s, and C2 Z06’s. Even rarer than those are a pair of Corvettes sold in 1969 sporting all aluminum ZL1 motors between the front fenders. RPO ZL1 cost $4,718.35 which was basically the same price as a base Corvette coupe.

Corvette Auction Preview: Barrett-Jackson Hot August Nights

Since the ordering process for the 2014 Corvette Stingray began in late May, we have noticed a huge increase in the amount of chatter on the forums about status codes and TPWs. TPW stands for “Target Production Week” and during normal production, they will usually give the buyer a fairly accurate forecast for when their Corvette will be built. But because the Corvette Stingray hasn’t officially started retail sales production, the TPWs that customers are getting through the Chevrolet customer service system may not be accurate and that appears to be causing concern – both for the customer and the Corvette production team.

We reached out to Corvette Marketing Manager John Fitzpatrick to get more information about the production schedule and the processes that will happen before the plant starts shipping the new C7 Corvette Stingrays to dealers.

[VIDEO] Corvette Leads World in Composite Material Development and Technology

When the 2014 Corvette Stingray finally hits the street later this year, it’ll be a prime example of the best cutting-edge ways to use composite materials to cut the weight of vehicles.

That was the word Monday from a GM executive during the 2013 Center for Automotive Briefing Seminars.

“The all-new Stingray composite materials were developed specifically for the seventh-generation Corvette,” said Mike Regiec, GM manufacturing chief of body manufacturing engineering. “In fact, the Corvette is the world leader in composite material development and technology.”
