After the debut of the seventh generation Corvette Stingray back in 2013 along with the Corvette Z06 that bowed a year later, the automotive press has been pretty excited about the prospect that the next generation Corvette may be produced featuring a mid engine layout. Following a sighting of a possible mid-engine mule running at the Milford Proving Grounds, prospects do indeed seem higher for a new kind of Corvette – something that Zora Arkus-Duntov always wanted to pursue but was always foiled by the GM bean counters.

Three Los Angeles police officers who shot and killed a Corvette driver they believed was reaching for a weapon last year won’t face criminal charges following the recent conclusion of an investigation by LA prosecutors.

The shooting of 51-year-old Brian Beaird came on the night of Dec. 13, 2013 after he had led police on a wild high-speed chase through downtown Los Angeles.

The pursuit finally ended when Beaird crashed into another car while going through an intersection. He then climbed out of the Corvette, staggering and heading toward the back of the car where officers believed he was reaching for a weapon.

[SPOILER ALERT] C7 Corvette Stingray on Top Gear Tonight

Last week we shared the trailer for the upcoming episode of Top Gear which features a Velocity Yellow C7 Corvette Stingray. If you want to wait for the episode to air tonight at 8:30 pm ET on BBC America, then feel free to move along. As the show already aired in the UK, there is a recording of the episode on YouTube showing Top Gear co-host Richard Hammond putting the Stingray through its paces and comparing the car to the Porsche Cayman GTS. A 1986 Corvette wound up upside down after being struck by a 1999 Blazer Thursday morning, according to a Colorado State Patrol spokesman.

The accident happened in Hygiene, Colo., at 75th Street and Colorado 66 when the driver of the westbound Blazer turned into the path of the oncoming Corvette.

Winter Storm Forces Closure of the Corvette Assembly Plant and National Corvette Museum

Anyone who had been hoping to see their Corvette Stingray or Z06 roll down the assembly line Tuesday will have to wait at least one more day.

That’s because of the havoc being created by winter storm Octavia that has already dumped more than 6 inches of snow from Missouri to Kentucky, forcing General Motors to shut down the second shift at the Corvette Assembly Plant on Monday night and both shifts on Tuesday. (Maintenance crews were told to report for their regular shifts, however.)

Unless you already had an order in the system for a new 2015 Corvette, the cost to buy the Coupe version of America’s Sports Car just got a little more expensive.

GM notified dealers on February 2nd of the price increase, the second time Corvette prices have gone up in the 2015 model year.

January 2015 Corvette Sales

The latest monthly sales report from General Motors was released this morning which contains the delivery statistics of Corvettes in the month of January, 2015.

Last month, Chevrolet sold 2,127 Corvettes which was a decrease of -5.9% from the 2,261 Corvettes sold during January 2014. Since this is the beginning of the calendar year, those stats for Calendar Year to Date sales are the same as well.
