190 MPH YouTube Video Puts Corvette Driver Behind Bars

A YouTube video showing Dee Albert Replogle driving 190 mph in his supercharged Corvette on Kilpatrick Turnpike in Oklahoma City served as all the evidence needed as Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers arrested the 30-year old on reckless driving charges. Troopers were able to trackdown Replogle who indicated that he was the owner and driver of the car as well as personally responsible for the YouTube account.

Bloomington Gold Makes Changes to 2011 Corvette Judging Schedule

The 39th annual Bloomington Gold Corvette show will see major changes this year as organizers have shuffled the weekend’s judging schedule again for the 2nd time in the last few years. The June 23rd – 26th, 2011 event to be held at the Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, IL will divide up its Survivor, Gold Certification, and Benchmark judging across 3 days for this year’s show. Previously, Survivor judging had been on Thursdays, Gold Certification on Fridays, and the drive-through awards ceremony on Saturday morning.

Record-Setting Racer Reunited with Corvette Racing Teammate Andy Pilgrim in New Cadillac SCCA World Challenge GT Program

DETROIT, Dec. 14, 2010 – Johnny O’Connell will move from Corvette Racing to the new Team Cadillac motorsports program in the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) World Challenge GT in 2011. After 10 successful seasons in Corvettes, O’Connell will join former Corvette Racing teammate Andy Pilgrim in a pair of Cadillac CTS-V Coupes as Cadillac returns to racing in the SCCA production-based series.

Former GM Design Chief Chuck Jordan Dies at 83

Charles “Chuck” Jordan, the designer that many said helped to usher in the modern era of car styling at General Motors, died on Thursday, December 9th. He was 83 years old. Jordan was the fourth man to hold the role of GM Vice President of Design and was in that position from October 1986 until his retirement in 1992. During his tenure at GM, Chuck was responsible for the design of the 1958 Corvette as well as several Corvette Concept cars.

 Rumor: Johnny O'Connell out at Corvette Racing

A persistent rumor has been burning up and down the internet this week. Murphy the Bear, that furry prognosticator of the ALMS says that longtime Corvette C6.R driver Johnny O’Connell is allegedly out of Corvette Racing for the 2011 season. His replacement is said to be former Rahal Letterman BMW driver Tommy Milner.

Up Close and Personal with the Corvette Stingray Concept

By now, most of you should be familiar with the Corvette Stingray Concept that was featured in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Last year the Stingray Concept hit the car show circuit which allowed the public the opportunity to take in the sleek, futuristic Corvette. Great, except for some reason it skipped the show in my hometown of Tampa. So when I saw it featured in an advertisement this weekend, I headed to the Convention center for my first opportunity to get up close and personal with Chevy’s popular Corvette concept.

November 2010 Corvette Sales

New Corvette Sales took a major step backwards according to the November 2010 Sales Report issued by General Motors. A total of 836 Corvettes were sold during the month of November, ending the streak of seven consecutive months of sales over 1,000 units. It’s the second worst month for sales in 2010 behind February’s 624 deliveries. Calendar year-to-date sales total 11,645 which is -9.7% off the 12,901 deliveries year to date in 2009.
