Unless you’re familiar with the manual release lever on the floor, you’re stuck in a fiberglass box, or a holding cell as one would-be auto thief in Canada found out the hard way.

Amazing 1978 Corvette Pace Car Barn Find with 13 Original Miles

1978 was a special year for Corvette. Not only was the sports car celebrating its 25th Anniversary, it was chosen to pace the Indianapolis 500. GM celebrated the event with a special Indy 500 Pace Car replica, a fully optioned Corvette painted Black and Silver and featuring silver interior and polished aluminum wheels. When the Wall Street Journal published a front page story on March 27,1978 reporting on the special edition Corvette, prices went wild and many of the 6502 replicas were purchased as investments by collectors.

Configure Your New Corvette on the New 2012 Corvette Website

We’ve been hitting the official GM website for Corvette every couple of weeks to see when they were going to make the switch from the 2011 to the 2012 model year Corvette and this weekend we were rewarded with the new website. In addition to the pictures and model comparisons, GM has added a new “Customize Your Vehicle” configurator which allows potential Corvette buyers to see all the options available on the car.

A custom 1964 style Corvette that was once owned by Chevrolet General Manager Semon E. “Bunkie” Knudsen will be on display at Mid America Motorwork’s SEMA booth in Las Vegas next month. The Corvette will be the centerpiece display by the Corvette catalog company and will showcase MA Motorwork’s Performance Choice interior products.

[PICS] Paragon Reproductions 2011 Open House

Paragon Reproductions hosted their annual open house a couple of weekends ago at their sprawling facility in Rankin, MI. Attendees were able to wander each of the several buildings on the grounds, buy a host of C1 – C4 Corvette parts, and enjoy a complementary lunch. Of course, one could also check out the 100 or so Corvettes that showed up too. We made a late summer road trip up to Paragon and you see can see some of our photos from the event after the break.

GM Recalling 6,006 Corvette Coupes for Rear Hatch Issue

The Detroit News is reporting that General Motors will be recalling 6,006 2011 and 2012 Corvette Coupes in North America due to failure to meet a federal safety standard covering the rear hinges. GM said the issue could allow the rear hatch to separate from the vehicle in a crash.
