This week Chevrolet introduced a new advertising campaign which debuted during Wednesday night’s Game 1 of the World Series. The ad is narrated by Tim Allen and features the new tagline “Chevy Runs Deep”. 100 years of Chevrolet history is shown including the new Volt and the 2011 Arctic White Corvette ZR1 featured in the “Rockets” ad. Watch the new commercial and then cast your vote whether or not you think the new tagline will be a success for Chevy.

Chevy to Build Corvette ZR1's LS9 Engine Live at SEMA

This summer Chevrolet unveiled a new program for Corvette buyers called the Corvette Engine Build Experience. For a cool $5,800, the program allows a Corvette buyer to assemble the LS7 or LS9 engine that will be installed in his Corvette Z06 or ZR1. To help promote the program, Chevy will be taking the Performance Build Center on the road to SEMA where one of GM’s skilled engine builders will assemble the Corvette ZR1′s 638 horsepower engine live from the floor of this year’s SEMA show.

[VIDEO] Corvette Engineer Discusses the ZR1's Exposed Carbon Fiber

When the Corvette ZR1 was first introduced to the public in 2008, one of the features causing a huge buzz in the automotive world was the exposed carbon fiber roof and the very expensive UV-resistant clear coat (said to cost $60,000 per gallon) that keeps the carbon fiber from cracking and yellowing in the sun. In this video, Corvette engineer Mark Voss talks about that clear coat covering that acts like a sunscreen to protect the panel for the life of the car.

2011 Corvette Production Statistics (So Far) by Model, Color

Thanks to Corvette Conti, we have a couple of charts detailing 2011 model year Corvette production. Buyers are still flocking to the Grand Sport models which combined, makes up 54% of total Corvette production. As far as popular colors, the numbers are following the recent trend of Black being the most popular choice followed by the two Reds and Cyber Gray.

September 2010 Corvette Sales

Friday saw the release of GM’s monthly sales reports and for the straight sixth straight month the number of Corvettes sold has been north of 1,000 units. In September 2010, 1,109 Corvettes were sold. This was 30% lower than last year’s 1,585 Corvettes, but discount that due to extenuating circumstances surrounding the September 2009 sales total. Year to date, Corvette sales total 9,798, a 9% decrease from 2009′s 10,795 units.

Chevy Allows You to Track Your Corvette Order Online

No longer will customers be in the dark about the status of their new Corvette order. GM has introduced a new “Track Your Order” feature to allow customers to view the relative status of their Corvette or any other Chevrolet order. In addition to the event status, a representation of the customer’s Corvette will be displayed with the majority of the accessories/options rendered.

GM Trademarks the “Stingray” Name

Earlier this year in May, GM filed a trademark with the US Patent and Trademark Office for the name “Stingray” for use on “motor land vehicles, namely, automobiles”. This is leading to speculation that GM may be registering the name in advanced of launching the C7 Corvette which is expected sometime between 2012-2014.

August 2010 Corvette Sales

Corvette sales are holding steady according to the latest sales report from General Motors. Deliveries of Corvettes in August hit 1,135 units which was 64 cars less than July 2010′s 1,199 sales. Year to date, sales are up 52.1% over August 2009′s dismal 746 Corvettes sold. In fact, August 2010 marks the third straight month of increases over 2009′s deliveries. However, last year at this time, the cash for clunkers program was in full swing which heavily impacted the sales of Corvettes and other cars not covered by the program. For the calendar year, 8,689 Corvettes have been sold which is a decline of 5.7% from 2009′s 9,210 Corvettes sold.
