On Thursday afternoon, winners and leaders of their respective ALMS classes talked to the press at Petit Le Mans held at Road Atlanta. Corvette Racing’s Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner talked about winning the ALMS Drivers Championship and Gary Pratt was there to speak about winning the GT Team Championship.
When it was time to talk about Chevrolet winning the ALMS GT Manufacturer’s title, Corvette’s Chief Engineer used the platform to unveil the new 2014 C7 Crossed Flags emblem and the public debut date of 1.13.13.
During today’s press conference at Road America, Corvette’s Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter accepted the 2012 ALMS GT Manufacturers Championship award for Chevrolet and then used the high profile event to kickoff the countdown for the highly anticipated world debut of the next generation 2014 C7 Corvette. That countdown will culminate on the evening of Sunday, January 13, 2013 when the new Corvette is official revealed in Detroit.
Like every new Corvette generation that went before, Chevrolet has redesigned the iconic crossed flags logo specifically for the 2014 Corvette, and its release today provides Corvette fans with the first official glimpse of the new American sports car.

Corvette Product Manager Harlan Charles is at the Corvette Time Line display at Detroit’s Woodward Dream Cruise and he takes us through some of the biggest (and lightest) changes that occurred during production of the C6 Corvette generation that started in 2005 and ends in 2013.

GM Authority reported Thursday that General Motors has applied for a trademark on the term “Turbo-Jet”. They state that the paperwork was filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office back in early August. The iconic phrase was categorized under “exterior and interior badges for motor land vehicles”. It was previously used on second and third generation Corvettes which could often perform like a jet while not actually possessing a turbo.
When I was in Detroit last month for the Woodward Dream Cruise, my personal Corvette story was told to a few GM’ers and it eventually made it way to Paul Manzella who runs the Faces of GM website. So I did a quick interview with Paul from GM’s Design on Woodward car show the Wednesday before Dream Cruise and today that video went live so check it out!
In its latest monthly sales report, General Motors listed 1,210 Corvettes sold in the month of August 2012. This was a 29.3% increase over August 2011′s 936 Corvette sold and represents a 24% increase in sales from the 986 Corvettes sold in July 2012. For the Calendar year to date, a total of 9,870 Corvettes have been sold, maintaining a modest 1.1% increase over the same time periord in 2011.

Members of General Motor’s Corvette Team once again came to Carlisle, PA for the annual Corvettes at Carlisle Show and gave their annual “What’s New with Corvette” seminar.
Corvette’s Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter started off with the walk-around before turning it over to Dave Tatman, the Corvette Assembly Plant Manager. Also talking 2013 Corvettes were Harlan Charles, Corvette’s Product Marketing Manager and Kirk Bennion, Corvette’s Exterior Design Engineer. The Seminar took just a little more than 20 minutes to cover the latest and final Corvette models of the C6 era but it was well worth it and very informative to all those that were there.
