Pricing for 2015 Corvette Stingray Announced

Late last week, GM released pricing to dealers for the 2015 Corvette Stingray Coupe and Convertible models as well as assorted options and accessories. The good news is that the non-Z51 Coupe and Convertible pricing for 2015 is the same as the final 2014 MSRP while the Z51 Coupe and Convertible models will see their starting MSRPs increase by $1,000 each.

For 2015, non-Z51 Corvette Stingray Coupes will start at $53,000 while its Z51 version will start at $58,000. The non-Z51 Convertible will begin at $58,000 and the Z51 version starts at $63,000. All four models still tack on the $995 delivery charge.

GM Fires the Corvette Assembly Plant's Longtime UAW President Eldon Renaud

The leader of the UAW chapter that authorized a potential strike at the Bowling Green Corvette Assembly Plant back in April has been fired by General Motors after 46 years as an employee.

Eldon Renaud, president of Bowling Green’s United Auto Workers Local 2164 for the past 32 years, had been leading the union’s recent concerns over safety and other issues at the Kentucky plant, where the highly popular seventh-generation Stingrays are being built.

That’s why it’s no surprise that the recently retired general manager of the Corvette Assembly Plant in Bowling Green has already turned up in a new and exciting post related to the auto industry.

Tatman was named yesterday as the first executive director of the Kentucky Auto Industry Association, which aims to promote the state as a world leader in the automotive industry.

It’s the first of the month and that means its sales reporting time for the major auto manufacturers.

General Motors sales report for June 2014 shows 2,723 Corvettes were sold during the month. That’s 219.2% higher than the 853 Corvettes sold during the same month in 2013. June’s Corvette sales lagged approximately 605 units behind the 3,328 Corvettes sold in May 2014 for a decrease of -18.2% between the two months.

GM Issues Recall for Corvette Stingrays Over Rear Shocks Issue

On Friday, GM issued a recall notice for four vehicles, one of which was the 2014 Corvette Stingray. Specifically, the potential issue has to do with the rear-shock absorbers in Stingrays with the FE1 or FE3 suspensions.

Great news for Corvette enthusiasts in Canada. Chevrolet in Canada has announced that Canadian buyers of the new Corvette Stingray are now eligible to attend the Stingray School at Ron Fellows Performance Driving School in Nevada. The two-day Stingray School is $1,000 USD which is a $1,500 discount off the standard driving school rate.

Corvette Assembly Plant Gearing Up for Production of the New LT4 Engines

The seventh-generation Corvette continues to generate good economic news for Bowling Green, Ky.

General Motors said this week it’s started hiring workers at its Corvette assembly plant there. For the first time since the plant opened in 1981, Bowling Green will be tasked with the assembly of engines, but not just any engines. These are the high-performance motors that will power the company’s latest rocket ships, the 2015 Corvette Z06 and the 2014 Camaro Z/28.

GM Recalling 2014 Corvette Stingrays with Competition Seats for Airbag Issue

General Motors issued another round recalls and this one impacts owners of the 2014 Corvette Stingray with Competition seats. At issue is the passenger seat airbag and GM is warning that an unbelted child and door trim may block the deployment of the seat airbags in an accident.

The recall affects a total of 712 2014 Corvette Stingrays with the optional competition sport seats.
