Thursday officially kicked off the 2012 NCM Bash at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. The crowds were good and with many different activities to attend, it was tough to cover it all. Add another chapter to the amazing life story of Patrick Rummerfield.
Rummerfield is known around the world as the only fully recovered quadriplegic in history, having come back from a 1970’s car wreck that had left him paralyzed from the neck down.
Last Wednesday, the long-time Corvette fan spent a day installing hoods at the Corvette Assembly Plant in Bowling Green, Ky.

There has been much talk on the net about the final year of Sixth Generation Corvette and the 2 special editions Chevrolet will be offering. Also being talked about was the new color Night Race Blue (GXH) that will be available for the 2013 Corvette Model Year.
As we get closer to the 2013 Corvette’s official launch at the National Corvette Museum’s Bash later this month, additional details about the final C6 Corvette are starting to trickle out. There is always excitement when GM introduces a new color choice for Corvettes and so when we came across an official Chevrolet Dealer document that shows an illustration of the new 2013 Corvette in Night Race Blue, we’ll, let’s just say we’re very pleased with the addition of the new shade.
General Motors plans to appeal a decision by a California jury that awarded $3.4 million to a California family.
The settlement came as part of a lawsuit against GM over a defective telescoping steering column in a 2005 Corvette belonging to Patti Boekamp.
General Motor’s March Sales Report brings good news to the Corvette Team as sales for the month were up 18% over March 2011. Last month, GM sold 1,376 Corvettes vs 1,163 in March 2011. For the calendar year, Corvette sales are up 3.3% with 2,932 Corvettes sold in 2012 vs 2,839 Corvettes sold in 2011. This is the third month in a row that Corvette sales have increased over the previous month and the March total is the highest sales figure we’ve seen since April 2011.
One of the highlights of attending the 12 Hours of Sebring are the seminars put on by the Corvette production team. Corvette’s Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter and Corvette Product Manager Harlan Charles made the trek from Detroit and brought down several Corvettes to show off to the faithful in the Corvette Corral including the new 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible with the 60th Anniversary Package.
The Corvette faithful are adamant that Chevrolet needs to stick with some kind of V8 engine that’s powered their favorite sports car since the 1955 model.
But Edmunds Inside Line reports that General Motors built 500,000 fewer V8 engines in 2011 than it did five years earlier in 2006.
