Detroit Autorama takes place each year in early March. For those of us up here in the snowy Midwest, it’s the first sign that winter may actually be over and that car show season is in the near future. 2014 marked the 62nd edition of the massive indoor custom car show. Barrett-Jackson to Sell First Production 2015 Corvette Z06 at Palm Beach Auction

Back in January, GM unveiled the highly anticipated C7 Z06 at the North American International Auto Show. According to the General Motors, the 2015 Corvette Z06 will be “the most track-capable Corvette ever, designed to deliver supercar levels of performance through unique powertrain, chassis and aerodynamic features.” Corvette enthusiasts from around the world have been waiting for the reintroduction of the legendary model and if you want to be the owner of the new Z06, VIN 001, then you need to be in Palm Beach, Florida for the Barrett-Jackson auction that runs April 11th through 13th.

Bloomington Gold Announces Changes to SURVIVOR Judging Program

Back in 1990 Bloomington Gold introduced their SURVIVOR award for original, unrestored Corvettes. Award winners would need to be 20 years old, complete a short road test, and be at least 50% unrestored in 3 of 4 categories. Now, as we count down to the 2014 show, they’ve announced some sweeping changes to their SURVIVOR judging program.

It’s hard to believe, but we’re only about 120 days from the 2014 installment of the Bloomington Gold Corvette show. If you’re looking to have your car judged or just attend as a spectator now’s the time to get your place in line. Registration for this year’s show opens up this Saturday, February 15th. The June 27-29th event will be making its 2nd stop this year on the University of Illinois campus in Champaign.

The “Real McCoy” $2.3M Sale Postponed During Dispute of Ownership on Parts

More than the weather failed to cooperate for the world’s largest collector car auction, Dana Mecum’s 2700 car Kissimmee event held January 17th through January 26th. Each year hundreds of Corvettes change hands during the ten day event as thousands of collectors and enthusiasts leave the cold weather blanketing most of the country and make their pilgrimage to the event in sunny, warm Florida. This year, though hundreds of airline flights were cancelled due to the weather, the pilgrimage still managed to take place even though the pilgrims were greeted with sunny but not very warm weather in Florida, the attendance slipped by over 6% and sales dropped by over $8M, down 11.4%.

C7 Corvette Stingray from Captain America: The Winter Soldier on Display at the Chicago Auto Show

During last year’s filming of the second installment of Marvel Entertainment’s Captain America, we learned that one of the main characters would be driving a new Corvette Stingray. But you won’t have to wait for the release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier on April 4th to see the new Corvette. Corvette America Named As Presenting Partner for the 2014 Corvettes at Carlisle

Our friends over at Corvette America just announced they have taken a big step forward by moving from Fun Field Sponsor to Presenting Sponsor for the upcoming Corvettes at Carlisle.

Since 2009, Corvette America had been the Official Fun Field Sponsor at Carlisle but now will expand its presence by becoming the Official Presenting Partner for the 2014 event, which will be known as Corvettes at Carlisle Presented By Corvette America. The event will be held Aug. 22-24.
