We told you a few weeks ago about a one-of-a-kind 1965 Corvette Sting Ray that has been on the track since it was born – and in the same family for more than 30 years. Brian Hobaugh will again be aiming for the top prize with his family’s Corvette in the OPTIMA Batteries Ultimate Street Car Invitational 2013 on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (PST) in Pahrump, Nev.
The new Corvette Stingray is one of those cars that is just begging for customization that takes an already great car to even higher levels.
One such treatment comes to us courtesy of Michigan-based TZD, which has named it the P58 Concept.
In 1970, Cliff Gottlob and Jack Blatchford drove a 1967 Corvette to Daytona Beach, Fla., where Gottlob and David Dooley teamed up to drive the L88-powered ‘Vette to second place in a 24-hour endurance test.
Now, 43 years later, Blatchford drove the same car onto the lawn of the 18th fairway at the prestigious Concours d’Elegance at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
Once again our friends at ProTeam Corvette Sales will be hosting a NCRS Technical Seminar. This year’s event is coming up on November 9th and the main topic is “How Chevrolet’s Relentless Pursuit of HP Benefited Corvette”. The all-day session is co-sponsored by the Michigan and Heart of Ohio chapters of the National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS). NCRS membership isn’t required to attend and the cost is just $20 at the door. That admission fee also includes breakfast and lunch.

The Corvette hobby lost an amazing person in 2004. My father, Chip Miller passed away from a rare disease called amyloidosis. Shortly after his passing, my family and I decided to start the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation (CMCF) in his honor and to raise awareness of this terrible disease.
The Corvette hobby was and continues to be the driving force behind the efforts and mission of the CMCF. My father was not only a wonderful person; he was also a best friend and mentor to me and many of my friends. His loss affected me in many ways, but most importantly to follow his mantra of “Life is good!” He was an incredibly positive, caring and generous person and his passing made me realize just how precious every minute really is and to enjoy the time we have on this earth.
One of our happy places, The Lingenfelter Collection, will be holding their annual fall open house coming up on Saturday, October 12th. Festivities will run from 10am to 5pm. Since October is breast cancer awareness month, proceeds from the event will go to the Shades of Pink Foundation which helps ease the financial burden of a breast cancer diagnosis.
